It is day 10 of the "Occupy Wall Street" campaign. On Saturday, more than 80 protesters were arrested as hundreds took part in yet another march to Wall Street.
Many of them were committing civil disobedience by walking in the street, but some say they were on the sidewalk when officers with the New York City Police Department used nets and physical force to break up the crowd. Videos uploaded to YouTube show officers pepper-spraying protesters in the face from close range, punching demonstrators and dragging people through the street. Since Sept. 17, thousands have gathered near in New York City’s financial district near Wall Street to decry corporate greed. Many have said they have been inspired by other popular uprisings from Spain to the Arab Spring. On Sunday, protesters issued a communiqué calling for the resignation of the NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly and for a dialogue with Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Thanks to Democracy Now!’s Ryan Devereaux and Jon Gerberg for this report.
Great news for civil liberties. Police PUNCHING people in the face? Using NETS to corral citizens? I suppose all this new military equipment the mayor of New York has bragged about having amy not necessarily be used against our enemies, unless by 'enemies' you mean "enemies of the State".
ReplyDeletePropaganda piece, they were sent there to cause trouble and disruption and when they did it they got what they deserved.
ReplyDeleteThis group is trying the Arab Spring approach. They are a bunch of socialist trying to promote thier agenda. They hate the free market. So they are trying to make themselves look like the victims to get sympathy to prepare for a hostile takeover of the economy in the future. Take a look at these folks backgrounds. Radical socialist/Marxist just like our so called elected President. I don't disagree that there is a vast amount of greed in Wall Street but it really stems from Washington where Barney Frank/Chris Dodd and company(republicans too) look the other way with their hands out for the campaign money that filters off of the top of the money pot.
ReplyDeleteThe real place the country should be protesting is at the polls in November.
This group does contain socialists, communists and anarchists but it also contains scores of first repsonders that NYC has left high and dry with their medical problems caused by 9/11, families of victims of 9/11 who are not satisfied with the gov. explanation, union workers and hundreds of liberty minded folks who don't think they should have to fund the giant wall street bailouts and have their little bit of cash devalued by the feds quantitative easing. The biggest complaints are unemployment and inflation if you talk to the protesters one on one.

ReplyDeleteWhat you mean to say is that there is a group of first responders trying to play the lawsuit lottery and get rich over the 9/11 attacks.
Union workers = communists
Every news feed I see shows nothing but little Carl Marxes that have never worked for a living.
Bunch of stupid immature little punk fools!
