'Obama Is No Longer The Favorite To Win Re-election'

Obama hits all-time lows, according to NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll

President 'is no longer the favorite to win re-election,' Democratic pollster says

When Barack Obama unveils his jobs and economic plan to a joint session of Congress on Thursday, he'll do so at the lowest point of his presidency, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

After the bruising debt-ceiling fight — as well as Standard & Poor's subsequent downgrade of the nation's credit rating — Obama's job approval rating has sunk to a low of 44 percent, a 3-point drop since July. His handling of the economy stands at a low of 37 percent. And only 19 percent believe the country is headed in the right direction, the lowest mark for this president.

Perhaps most ominously for Obama, a majority of poll takers — 54 percent — think he's facing a longer-term setback from which he's unlikely to recover. Back in January, just 39 percent agreed with that assessment.

Indeed, that 54 percent is virtually identical to George W. Bush's score on the same question in the Nov. 2005 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, which was released just months after Bush's widely criticized handling of Hurricane Katrina.

  1. But, he will be rich beyond belief. Have tax payers pay for his and his families security every where they go for life. Great medical and great education for his family.

He run country to brink of destruction and he gets the American Dream, streets named after him and a statue of his smart smug face.

    Yep all seems fair.

Because his policies and actions are destroying this great country.
Because after 2-1/2 years of going the wrong way with the economy, he is doubling down and pressing down ont he gas. He doesn't get it.

  5. Leave him alone?! He was the one promising hope and change when he was running for the presidency.

He lied and/or failed. Now the people are holding him accountable. That's the way it should be.

He got a free pass when he was elected. That pass is now over. Time to face the music and suffer the consequences of his mistakes and false promises.

I expect him to get a monstrous trouncing in the coming election. And rightfully so.

Whatever shape the country was in when he took office is now worse.

That's the bottom line. No excuses. No blaming the previous administration.

He is plain bad for this country. And congress is a close second.

  6. It's about time his numbers are dropping. Electing him was the biggest mistake the majority in this country ever made. We'll be paying for his mistakes for generations.

  7. Will SOMEONE from the 44% approval group come on here and tell us why they think after almost 3 years in office and with every single measure (employment rates, housing starts, foreclosure rates, stock market, manufacturing base and production, dollar value, NAME IT), obama is doing such a great job?? WHO are these 44%? Qualifier--- you must have a job and get a check that you actually earned in order to answer.

  9. Well, Obama delivered on half of his "hope and change" promise. He has certainly delivered change!

  10. I know of several people who live in crazy California who voted for this jerk and to this day, they still think he is a great leader and are of that 44 percent. When I look back, they were crazy liberals when I was associated with them and they always knew how to beat the system. Basically, I could not stand being around them being the Obama lovers that they were!

    NO, NO, NO!

That is not the way it is supposed to work. You are SUPPOSED to think, evaluate and then choose the candidate YOU feel is worthy.

Just blindly following someone's lead, (no offense Joe) is how we got in this mess.

People voting for a specific party without even knowing what the candidate is about.

Voting for someone just because he is black (Obama).

Do any of you remember the last election? People going around and asking questions about who they were voting for and why?

Asking who their running mate was, and many did not even know.

Remember that black chick who said she was gonna vote for obammy just because he was gonna put gas in her tank or give her money?

Remember the black panthers blocking the voting booths in Philly? Carrying night sticks and being threatening and intimidating?

Please, do not let those mistakes happen again.
