Mayor Jim Ireton and a hand full of other people were at Congressman Andy Harris' Salisbury Office to picket the Congressman once again.
However, IF the information I have read is in fact accurate, well, I can't say as I blame him/them. You see, there's a LOT about the USPS that is NOT being exposed to the general public. Such as, do you know
why the Postal Service is having the financial problems they are having right now?
Let me tell you why. In 2006 Congress passed a law requiring the Postal Service to pre-fund a 75 year liability for health care in just a 10 year period of time for future retirees. This mandate costs the USPS more than $5 billion dollars a year. That is why they are in the financial crisis they are currently in.
NO OTHER Government or Private agency have to bear such an expense, just the USPS. Mind you, the USPS is NOT funded by the Government. They completely rely on the sale of stamps and postage.
Follow the link below to learn more. Mind you, I'm sure there's another side to all of this but I have attempted to contact the Congressman and other Delegates in reference to this matter but was unsuccessful in reaching anyone.
GO HERE to read the details. Be sure to click on all the different tabs to get all the details. In the mean time, Ireton needs to work on revitalizing Downtown Salisbury and stay the hell out of picketing a respected Congressman's Office. Grow up Jim. I like your cause and agree with it but Salisbury has its own issues you need to get in order.
People picketed Kratovil all the time, in fact you would show up and take pictures, so what is wrong with these people expressing their dissapproval. Or can you only picket if you are a crazy republican tea partier?
ReplyDeletehow many ways can you spell "Loser"
ReplyDeleteHere we go again. The big union destroys a company. The the big union DEMANDS that tax peyers bail them out.
ReplyDeleteHow about USPS stand on your own!
how about the US postmaster take a damn paycut. that would certainly help...
ReplyDeleteanonymous 3:40, I was at Kratovil's office once covering an event. That's my job, that's what I do.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, you didn't see Mayor Tilghman at any of these events.
That being said, IF you READ my article, I SUPPORTED THIS EVENT, IDIOT.
Now go back to your Blog and continue showing every one the fool that you actually are. Man, some people are really stupid.
Anonymous 4:12, READ the information. The USPS CAN survive IF the citizens stand up to congress and support HR1351.
The Mayor is NOT a Delegate, Senator, Congressman or Governor, he's a simple Mayor. He needs to stop grandstanding, (even though I support their goal here) and take care of the city's business.
Maybe I'm wrong here. I simply feel Mayor Ireton has thousands of buildings in the city up for lease. Hundreds of properties in foreclosure, exempt from paying taxes, a waste water treatment plant in the crapper, an old mall still sitting there with no financial return for the taxpayers. The list goes on and on and he has a LOT of work to do.
Do you people disagree with me????
Cathy and others, CLICK ON THE LINK and read the information.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying many of them aren't overpaid but you really need to see the details of what is truly going on to fully understand how the USPS and ultimately the citizens of America are getting screwed by Congress on this one.
READ!
The Mayor is fruity and needs to go.
ReplyDeleteJim-beau is trying to emulate his idol, Obama. Both are "community organizer" -- i.e., rabble-rouser -- types.
ReplyDeleteHe and B. O. have both gotta go ASAP (next election, that is).
On of the real problems they have is that they are the poster child for inefficiency. Having a post office for every rinky-dink town in America is quite simply a poor business model. Unless they shut a bunch of offices, focus on logistics, and deal with their union benefit issues, they will be TOAST.
ReplyDeletescrew the postal service, how many other people get any company benefits after they retire? the taxpayer should not have to be on the hook for what private entities do! geez I don't know how many times I've received my neighbor's mail or my mail has been found lying in the road. Really hard job isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWise up! Even YOU don't need the USPS anymore because unemployment does direct deposit with their checks. It won't be long before only the USPS workers have jobs.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Obama!
Forget the USPS. Save money. They don't do their jobs right anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm still awaiting the return of the postal kiosk machine.
ReplyDeleteHow dumb for the Postal Service to remove such a valuable item.
Not only could people extend their mailing hours - but it also helped to reduce the workload on the counter sales people.
Talk about taking a step back into the dark ages - maybe they'll try and discontinue the delivery trucks and substitute delivery with a team of donkeys.
The post is really about whether the mayor should be taking part in these things.
ReplyDeleteIt's a free country, but I agree with Joe. The mayor should focus on fixing Salisbury and let regular citizens do these protests.
Since most of the hogs that slop at the post office trough, don't live in the City of Salisbury, J-Bo must plan on running for some county or state position.
ReplyDeleteLOL you I-D-I-O-T.
