DELDOT Truly Impresses This Blogger
If you happen to travel Rt. 54 more than likely you've been stopped by this group as they tear up and refinish the roadway.
Unlike Maryland, Delaware is maintaining their roads, respecting the taxpayers money and infrastructure. However, its the way their going about it that truly shows their accountability.
Look closer at the pictures above. These guys aren't just tearing out 4 inches of road bed, their instantly recycling what is being ground up and immediately putting it back. Talk about going GREEN!
Once they have competed Rt. 54 they will come back 5 days later and put another 2" cap on top of everything, including the shoulders.
So, say what you want about Delaware. This state blows away Maryland in so many ways.My hat is tipped to the state government and DELDOT for being so friendly to the environment.
What a waste of time and effort and funds...
ReplyDeleteDid you know that California paid one million for a machine that does all the road repair in one...
Meaning there is one machine that will cut the road, grind it up, add additives to it and relay it and pave it with a roller all in one...
Oh not to mention it only takes FOUR (4) PEOPLE to run it... They also do a bout 3 to 5 miles a day with this machine... And it only cost a few thousand to upkeep provided they actually upkeep it or keep it maintained...
No lets take 10 workers 5 trucks to hull away crap, 5 trucks to bring in the pavement pellets, and 4 machines to pave one mile of road a day...
I've seen one of those in action a few years ago. I'm surprised not all states have one.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 3:28, what do you think this machine does. LOOK AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteJoe is right. All great men come from Delaware. I am from Delaware and I have always considered my my self great! Maryland is for those who could never cut in in Delaware!
ReplyDeleteAnd we all know how well, California has used their states tax dollars, Well done DelDot.
ReplyDeleteI commend them for their efforts. I think it's fantastic. What I hate MD has done is put rumble strips down the sides of Mt. Hermon and Old Ocean Road right on the white line. It should be over a little farther. Powellville-Willards Road has rumble strips, but they are farther over. I know each of these doesn't have as much of a shoulder, but right on the white line?? When tractor trailers who ride down these road their tires sit right on the line and there's nothing they can do. Another brilliant plan by the MDSHA.
ReplyDeleterumble strips are a good idea no matter where they are located. Who cares if big trucks ride on them? They should have them on every road they pave.
