Breast Cancer Survivors Kayak At Killens Pond Sept. 12

Breast cancer survivors in Delaware have plenty of opportunities to attend support groups, but one unique program goes outside four walls. The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s Nurture With Nature program allows breast cancer survivors to come together and experience nature by hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, looking at constellations and many more outdoor activities.

DBCC has an upcoming Nurture With Nature kayak outing for breast cancer survivors starting at 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at Killens Pond State Park in Felton. Here, survivors can see lily pads, basking turtles, beavers and deer. No experience is necessary. There are tandem kayaks for those who wish to kayak with someone else. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Transportation is available from DBCC’s Dover and Lewes offices on a first-come, first-serve basis. To RSVP for this event or for additional information, contact Lois Wilkinson in DBCC’s Dover office at 302-672-6435 or at lwilkinson@debreastcancer.org. This event has been rescheduled from the original Aug. 28 date, postponed because of Hurricane Irene.
