High doses of the drug methylphenidate — the active ingredient in Ritalin and other ADHD medications — reduced testes size and delayed descent of the testes in male monkeys younger than 5 years old, compared with monkeys not given the drug. The drug also reduced their testosterone levels at both low and high doses.
good perhaps they won't grow up to breed and pass on this defective trait
ReplyDeleteHow do you know they "pass it on"?
ReplyDeleteWhat about the vaccines?
What about the flouride?
What about the radiation in our foods, and genetically modified foods?
Do some research - it is fun to learn the truth about Big Corporations
Defective trait? A majority of the most successful people have ADD or ADHD as well as an above average IQ, something that is severely lacking on the eastern shore. Maybe the inbreeding had something to do with it!
ReplyDeleteMy son was diagnosed with ADD when he was in kindergarten. He didn't have the ADHD. He had no problems sleeping. His problem was concentration. He was a great kid other than the concentration problems. One of the first things we did when we noticed things weren't right was we took a look at what he ate and drank.
ReplyDeleteI was always cooking fresh meals so I pretty much knew that the meals weren't the problem.
We were able to locate a coupld of "triggers".
One was caffeine. So we cut it out.
The other was Red 40. We cut that out too.
What a difference it made! However, it wasn't enough. We decided not to go with Ritalin because of the peaks and valleys it causes. We did a med called Cylert. It was time released and it wore off by the time he got home from school. In school, he was able to concentrate and didn't have the "noise making ticks" anymore which disturbed the rest of the class.
You have to learn to READ LABELS because these two ingredients are in more foods and drinks than you'd ever guess they were in!
In second grade, with the ADD, he was tested for Magnet. They wanted him SO bad in the magnet program. We chose NOT to put him in it because of the threat of lowering his self-esteem which comes from getting great grades to potentially failing grades. We chose to leave him in "advanced" classes in regular school structure instead. We're glad we made that choice.
You don't outgrow ADD. He still has it and functions just fine today and he's almost 30 years old.
Before you go off on those who have ADD or ADHD kids, you should do some research on your own.
Not ALL of these kids are lazy and not ALL of these kids are from families who don't care and don't discipline. Not ALL parents do it just to drug their kids into being good.
We never wanted to admit there was something going on with our son, but there was and we're glad we found it.
