A Viewer Writes....

"Joe, why were there protesters outside of Hobby Lobby?

They've acquired an empty building, stocked it with beautiful items (a bit pricey) & they are employing people...what's the problem?????"

There were protesters because Hobby Lobby didn't use UNION workers to build out and stock the store. In my honest opinion, it truly ticks me off that these crybabies disrupt economic & development, (or the attempt thereof) because they didn't get the JOB!

I have always said, if I do not get your business, I DIDN'T EARN YOUR BUSINESS. Unions, (in this case) are hurting America.

  2. I also saw the protesters on RT 13 holding a huge billboard asking people to boycott Hobby Lobby. I was wondering what that was all about.

  3. Why do people use " in my honest opinion"? As opposed to their un-honest opinion?

No big deal I know, but shouldn't it be "in my humble opinion"?

  4. really? people protested that? i mean, in this economy everyone should be glad that SOMEONE got the work (i mean, its awesome that companies can expand & open new locations in this crap-conomy). and be glad that now a few more people are out of the unemployment line. why does everyone have to be so negative when this is a "glass half full" situation?!

  5. this is how the unions welcome a new business to salisbury, since they have run most of the large companys out of salisbury or forced them to close, maybe they should try to work for a living instead of just taking dues from the people that are working, i worked for a union company here in salisbury for 31 years and would not want to work for one again, i hope that the workers at walmart are smart enough to see it is not going to make it better for them or us, unions where needed back in time, but not today, by the way sorry to all the people of super fresh the way that union treated them.

  7. Protesters? Hm! Must not have made much of an impression. My son works at HL and he didn't even mention protesters. Oh, he got the job without being in a union. They already pay pretty good and have good benefits, so what's to protest?

  8. Unions are good for America. They pervent employers from treating their employees like slave laborers.

We all know, there are folks out there who will work for practically nothing out of desperation. Businesses will take advantage of this situation which leaves more pocket money for the rich.

  9. At one time unions were necessary but in the long run they did some harm Remember Dresser and Crown Cork among a few. The workers at Dresser were making decent money especially for the Salisbury area and I would bet that a very small percentage, if any, were able to secure a job that paid as well as they were making at Dresser. Dresser kept threatened to move to Texas and they finally did. Not sure of the number of strikes but remember what the employees were making during the strike? Heads of unions were making their regular salaries while the those on strike walked a picket line.

  12. Maybe you all should know why they were out there.Yes hobby lobby is a great place ect ect, but heres what happened and here is why people are very up set and protesting. They hired 80 people to open the store then right before grand opening with one schedule the cut back to 30 employees. No notice no warning no nothing. People were very upset about losing this job for some people this is all the had. I know because I was one of the ones to lose my job, and I have spoken with other employees about what they had done and honestly most of the loses they needed a day off or had jury duty. They were very unprofessional about letting people go, that is why there was protesters.

  13. First of all anyone who is pro the big businesses is totally clueless to what is going in our country and should probably do more research and stop believing the propaganda they feed you on fox news. Second of all hobby lobby went on to cut more employees after the 30 they cut without explanation with a a whole back room full of freight to put up and not enough people to do they're swamped and i feel bad for the ones left because they are going to have to work 10 times harder to get the work done, not even knowing if they'll have their jobs next week. And being that its a christian based company it makes it even sadder or should i say scarier that they behave the way the do. So keep spending your money there if u want to but i would hope the American people aren't as stupid as the govt thinks they are. No unions honestly yeah no constitution either huh, well its happening right in front of your faces and you sound dumb taking the bait. Get smarter because it's gonna get ugly out here real soon start with researching the Koch brothers if you don't know who they are, just saying.

  14. ^^ exactly, and just because your full time doesn't mean your going to make $12 an hour, they lied to get people interested worked them like dogs then started cutting people, and they still are. The general manager is rude and even other mg want to quit. I hope people realize how jaded this place really is, the money isn't worth their cheap items.
