ANNAPOLIS, MD (August 4, 2011) – Governor Martin O’Malley today released the following statement on the passing of Dorothy E. Brunson, the first African American woman in the nation to own a radio and TV station:
“I’d like to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dorothy E. Brunson – a pioneer and remarkable woman with an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit.
“We reflect on her many accomplishments in Baltimore and beyond, and we are inspired by her courage and words of wisdom.
“Dorothy’s legacy lives on in the dreams and aspirations of our children who can learn from her that nothing is ever impossible if you believe in and work hard for a better future.”
