Social Security Office In Austin , TX
A friend went to the social security office this week to file for Medicare because it is the only way to keep medical insurance when you turn 65. He took a picture of the waiting room. Please tell me if you can find a retired person in the place!!!! It's called "disability" insurance!!!! You no longer have to wonder why SS is broke!!! These people do not pay into the system, nor are they disabled!!! Please spread this picture to everyone you know. Our country is going broke on this fraud!!! Go down to your SS office and check it out.
I guess obesity is now a disability.
ReplyDeleteIf you are poor and lazy, it's all the rage.
ReplyDeleteThey can't learn to work, but they can learn all the ways to get something for nothing. It's our government's fault for allowing it!! And the people's fault for voting those irresponsible politicians in office!! Why does anybody think we have so many illegals in our country. They wouldn't be here if they weren't getting handouts from the hard-working Americans!
ReplyDeleteMaybe we have stupid politicians because we have stupid voters like 9:14. Illegal immigrants can't get Social Security. In fact, many illegal immigrants pay Social Security taxes and don't get benefits, so they actually help prop up the failing system. In 2007, illegal immigrants paid $12 billion in Social Security taxes -- money they'll never see in benefits. Over the lifetime of the program, the SS system has received a net benefit from illegal immigrants anywhere between $120 billion and $240 billion.
ReplyDeleteSo, no, illegal immigrants aren't here to get "handouts" from the U.S. They are here to work and the taxes they pay help subsidize the retirement of everyone on Social Security.
9:24
ReplyDeletethey get food stamps
dont think so, go to any grocery store and watch for a time
Need to have disability reform like we did welfare reform. These people could be doing something.

If they are illegal then they probably arent apying any taxes, including social security genius.
9:24 most illegals dont pay taxes so how do you figure they are footing the social security bills? when you are paid "under the table" you don't pay into any social security or tax funds. and on a different note, i worked for a doctor for a few years and you would be shocked at not only the money awarded to people who's only disability is an allergy to honest work, you would be shocked at the time wasted and money spent to prove said person's disability. They appeal over and over again with the help of shady lawyers , wasting doctor's time and money and in many cases the state's money because most of these people are on state assistance to begin with. when one ailment doesn't qualify for benefits they will focus on another one. getting those "free"benefits is a job in itself. if only these folks applied their talents and tenacity in a different way....
ReplyDeleteMaybe if they got out and did some work they would feel better!!
ReplyDeleteYou people should be ashamed of yourselves. You have no idea what their situation is. How many are there to process death benefits? How many are they with a power of attorney for their disabled/elderly relative?
ReplyDeleteWho knows?! Surely you don't, I can guarantee that!
If they are illegal then they probably arent apying any taxes, including social security genius.

You're not thinking correctly. They pay SS taxes on a FRAUDULENT SS number. They won't get any benefits because it's not their SS number. But the money still goes to SS.
Some of you are so intent on calling and trying to prove others are idiots that you prove yourselves to be idiots instead.
Think before you type.
YOU, 10:04 am, are either the most NAIVE person on the planet or the DUMBEST!!!! Seriously!
ReplyDeleteYes, some illegals get paid under the table. Most use a fake Social Security number or an Individual Tax ID number to work, however. They pay payroll taxes and income taxes but then don't get to use the government programs that are funded with these taxes.
ReplyDelete9:24 You are truly naive (disingenuous?). Any system can be "scammed" and social security is no exception. Yes, some illegals are here to work and some do pay into the system, but the numbers you throw around can't possibly be verified. They are estimates put together, in all likelihood, by someone with an agenda (such as yourself?). ...and can you say "cherry-picking?" You conveniently leave out any information that doesn't support your point of view (agenda).
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, though, how can one just look at a person & assess their citizenship/immigration status; their age (I don't look my age); their health or the health of those for whom they're responsible (disabled spouse, parent, child or sibling); their reason for being at the SS office in the first place, etc, etc, etc.
Come on, people! In this case is a picture REALLY worth a thousand words?
Do you really think you help your case by making such assumptions?
...and for those who immediately start name-calling, do think you are helping to sway others to your position? Doubt it!
Social Security is given to anyone, whether they have worked a day in their life. This is not what Social Security was intended to do, but Congress, in their pea-sized liberal brains, decided it was an entitlement program. Since they (Congress) do not put in to this program, they have never cared. I think Congress should start looking at donating some of their retirement monies to the Social Security program that they have borrowed (stolen) from for years. Things would change then.
ReplyDeleteIllegal don't get any benefits but their anchor babies DO.
ReplyDeleteIf the unemployment rate is so LOW in Mexico why are they still coming/staying here? They are staying because we give them everything for FREE. Mexico loves it because a lot of the money they make here goes back to Mexico to support their family and to help them bring more of them over here too so they can get FREE stuff. If you notice the ones you see in the stores are ones that are still able to reproduce like rabbits.

lol Do you want to explain why you think that or is it just because I embarrassed you by using the truth?
I sincerely hope you are a child, for your sake. If you are an adult and act this way...sad.
To 10:34, the numbers I cited came straight from the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration. Nothing was cherry-picked. These numbers can indeed be verified and they have been.
ReplyDeleteTo 11:14, please do some research before you post. One, Congressmen pay into Social Security just like every other federal employee. Two, you can't get Social Security payments unless you've previously paid into the system.
The problem with this discussion, like so many others, is that people feel they should spout off on it when they don't know anything about the subject. You're entitled to your own opinion, but unless you have some factual basis for it, I don't have to respect it.

It is NOT true that Congressmen do not pay into the Social Security fund.Since 1984 they have been required to pay Social Security just as most everyone else does. ( A few odd exceptions to the Social Security program still exist, both inside and outside of government, but not for members of Congress.
It WAS true prior to 1984 that Congressmen did not pay into the Social Security fund because they participated in a separate program for civil servants (the Civil Service Retirement System, or CSRS), but that program was closed to government employees hired after 1983
In 1983, public law 98-21 required Social Security coverage for federal civilian employees first hired after 1983 and closed the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) to new federal employees and Members of Congress. All incumbent Members of Congress were required to be covered by Social Security, regardless of when they entered Congress. Members who had participated in CSRS before 1984 could elect to stay in that plan in addition to being covered by Social Security or elect coverage under and 'offset plan' that integrates CSRS and Social Security. Under the CSRS Offset Plan, an individual's contributions to CSRS and their pension benefits from that plan are reduced ('offset') by the amount of their contributions to, and benefits from, Social Security.

I'm still waiting for your explanation.
Employees of SS in Austin TX are not doing their jobs correctly.
ReplyDeleteThey are approving disability for these folks???? How crazy is that!
Turn them off and let them get a job, this is not what disability means. What is the matter with these Administrators?
You can tell what's wrong with people from looking at a picture? You know everyone's circumstances even though you never met? Wow!
ReplyDeleteTell me the winning numbers to this powerball coming up.
11:56 Doubt you'll see this now, but if you do and you're so sure of the figures you quote (which HAVE to be estimates, because illegals are, as you'd probably say, "undocumented." How do you accurately document that which is "undocumented?") how 'bout a link to the site where you got the info? I assume it was some liberal blog or the La Raza web site?
ReplyDeleteIt is not broke. That is just a GOP lie.
