NASCAR Leader Loses License For 128 MPH Joy Ride

(AP)

STATESVILLE, North Carolina - NASCAR points leader Kyle Busch lost his driver's license for 45 days on Tuesday for driving 128 mph on a road close to a day-care center and church in a car worth nearly $400,000. His lawyer said his client was not treated "like any other citizen."

Busch, who doesn't need a license to compete in NASCAR, also was fined $1,000, sentenced to 30 hours of community service and put on one year of unsupervised probation. He pleaded guilty to speeding and no contest to reckless and careless driving in North Carolina District Court.

  1. Unfortunately...he does think he is above any kind of reproach...he should have lost his license to race in NASCAR! What an idiot!

  3. I've always complained some drivers around here think they are in NASCAR and now we have a NASCAR driver acting like a jerk.

Do not do this at home.

  4. 128 MPH probably seemed slow to him since he usually drives around 195 MPH.

  7. Funny, I know a guy who lives on the Shore. Told me a story once of when he was pulled over clocking a similar speed. Now, at the time he was a driver in an open wheeled racing series. Turns out, the cop recognized him, let him off with a warning, and said it was because he was skilled to drive a vehicle well above the speeds he was clocked at. I don't personally approve, imo, take it to the track if you want to run it. But it doesn't bother me. A normal driver? Yes, that bothers me. Someone with world class driving ability? Not really.

  8. Others on the road with him are not 'world class' drivers, even as most think they are. All it would take is for someone to pull out in front of him.

Ever seen an 100mph crash? It ain't pretty. He is supposed to be a professional, act like one.
