Weight-loss surgery in the land of ham and peanuts turns out to be a reasonable deal compared with other states.
The average charge in Virginia for stomach-stapling and gastric bypass was $32,603 - below the mean for 19 states recently studied by HealthGrades, a national health care ratings organization.
Not surprisingly, the surgery was most expensive in California, where health care providers charged an average of $65,251. In Maryland, the state with the lowest prices, $16,390 could buy a bariatric procedure.
Wow....people can still afford even that....I live check to check not even sure what those figures are(LOL) but from what I see seems to be even though Maryland is cheapest still only the RICH can afford that.
ReplyDeletewow...maybe just watch how much you eat! Try more fruits and veggies and of course chicken.
ReplyDeleteMaryland has an Obesity Law which means that if your company employs 50 or more people and/or receives any State contracts, their health insurance plan MUST cover weight loss surgery. More people need to know that.
ReplyDeleteIt is easy to say "eat less and you'll lose weight" but that is not always the case. Surgery is designed to help you lose the weight and keep it off as studies have shown that yo-yo dieting is worse than just being over wweight.

It's not always that simple.
