Economy Focus Of Harris Town Hall


The meeting came a day after the stocks plunged around the world, including a 634-point drop from the Dow Jones industrials following the downgrade of the United States' credit rating by Standard and Poor's.

About 30 Talbot County residents attended the meeting at the St. Michaels branch of the Talbot County Free Library. Harris answered questions and spoke about the national economy.

  5. Uh, most entitlement money is going to older whites, a demographic that largely votes conservative, in the form of medicare and ss.

  6. I take exception to anyone who thinks that social security is an entitlement. If the democrats hadn't stolen the money during the LBJ administration, there would be more than enough money to go to the people that contributed to the fund all their working life.

  8. SS is an entitlement because you take out far more than you ever paid in and the rate you paid was far lower than workers today pay.
