California Wildfire Scorches 3,000 Acres

(CNN) -- A wildfire triggered by an exploding propane tank has scorched 3,000 acres in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California and caused the evacuation of a resort, fire officials said Friday.Nearly 1,000 firefighters were trying to quell the blaze that started Thursday near Yosemite National Park, said Jim Tucker, a spokesman for the fire departments working in the area.

The blaze grew Friday, and at one point jumped the Merced River and caused the evacuation of Cedar Lodge, a resort in the area, Tucker said.
