Harris market. Jimmy Harris has a very good business and excellent employees. It is a family owned business that has been around for many years. That is the best place to find produce, local produce, and exceptional prices! Not to mention there $1 cantaloupes!
Harris's Market. I bought some fruit there yesterday...great prices and good quality. Today I stopped by How Sweet it Is and noticed that their prices were much higher on the very same items.
Farmers Market downtown has good quality fruit, produce and homemade stuff all reasonably priced. You buy the produce from the grower directly. Some organic, some traditional grown, all good.
I also shop Harris's market but they'll tell you if you ask, a lot of their stuff early in the season is not local, its trucked in from down south.
who on earth would ever go to How Sweet It Is, there prices are outrageous. There is a nice old man on Rockawalkin road who has the best prices anywhere around and his produce is The Best!
everyone says they go to "markets". all of these markets have overhead. why not go to the farmers themselves, the little stands on the side of the road with the colorful characters. Thats america. thats where you get the best stuff for the best price. My favorites are like 5:40 said, the farmer on rockawalkin and a little stand on Old OC rd near pittsville.
The best produce around is Malone's on Snow Hill Road, just before the Nutter's Crossing Development. Friendly staff, and the produce comes out of the field next to the stand. Stop by there you will not be unhappy with their fresh produce.
i like "tom & jerry's" on rt.50 pittsville. great produce, wonderful hand dipped, home made ice creme from chesapeake farms. great organic bold roast coffee and fantastic smoothies and frapes. local fresh lump and back fin crab meat. baked goods as well. picnic tables to sit and enjoy if you want. stop in and say hi because they're very nice. NO i'm not a relative but i sure do like this place. it's their 1st year and they could use local support.....
I vote for the gentleman on Rockawalkin Road also. The produce is always fresh, and the farmer and his family are the epitome of Eastern Shore hospitality.
I stopped by Tom and Jerry's recently. A lot of thought went into this produce stand and they are located right on Route 50 heading to Ocean City - very convenient for the crowds going to the beach. Not only do they carry produce like 1056PM mentioned, they have the very BEST hand dipped ice cream!!! A little on the expensive side but on a hot summer day, it's worth it. This stand is kind of like a "one stop" shop with their great selection of nicely displayed produce along with the very friendly folks that work there.
I also like Tom & Jerry's Market. They have a little bit of everything. If you go make sure to try the ice cream, well worth the trip. The people are very nice and very helpful. I definitely like and support this place.
I like Adkins produce on Mt Herman Road...They have 2 locations one where they have the corn maze just past Airport Road but we tend to go further east to the little stand in front of their house. Always great deals and their cantalopes are so sweet.
annoymous 11:06 july 31 the adkins produce with the corn maze is not all home grown like the two further east and the two farther east is not associated with the corn maze location...farther east are two brothers they grown their own and those stands have been open for over 35 years, one grows the pumpkins for fall....they are brothers and their family has been located there for many years over a 100...the farmers that have their stands are the best they grown their own and they are why we have food to eat....

ReplyDeleteI buy most of my fresh produce in the summer from Harris Market. It's right on my way home and sure beats Giant or Wally World.

ReplyDeleteFrank's little produce stand at the Fruitland roundabout. He grows his own, prices are very reasonable, and he is very personable.
