ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland analysts are presenting revenue estimates that an extension of the sales tax to various services would generate.
Revenues that would be raised by either a 2 percent sales tax or a 6 percent sales tax to 16 different services were outlined to lawmakers on the state's Senate Budget and Taxation Committee on Tuesday.
Engineering services, employment placing agencies, cable television, health and fitness centers, golf courses and taxis were some of the services mentioned.

I just knew that, if the legislators put their little heads together, they could come up with "creative" ways to rake in more money. Watch out; they'll probably decide that, instead of either a 2% raise in the sales tax or an extension to these 16 services, they'll just do both. Why not? And here we have so many who have no job and/or limited income, so the state takes more of their money. Make sense?
ReplyDeleteYes, when the sole purpose of the govt is to become bigger and more sloppy...
ReplyDeleteDear Maryland Legislators:
ReplyDeletePlease stop spending money that we don't have. Then you won't need even more taxes. Haven't you noticed that the more taxes we have, the more revenue problems come later down the road?
Sincerely,
Everybody
The reason they need more money is BECAUSE they have raised the taxes so much. They raised the taxes on millionaires and most of them moved. Then they raised the taxes on businesses and they too moved out of the state. At what point are they going to learn that they need to STOP spending so much and stop raising the taxes.
ReplyDeleteHow can the public be so adamant about stopping all the spending yet the people we elect to represent us SPEND LIKE CRAZY!!? More taxes, fines, fees, and surcharges. Thats what we will be getting from the sleazy worms who "represent" us. And they have hardly started. The terrible thing is, they are taking from those who produce and work and giving it to those who don't. Thats why you and I never see gains or improvements to OUR lives. None of that money (or, very little of it) is actually used to do anything for us. Our road and bridges are falling apart, our schools are outdated and using books and equipment that should be thrown away, and our government is severly bloated and inefficient. All the while the working people are busy paying more and more and getting less and less. But, according to some, the "system" works fine. Really??? I look at these things and wonder --- how long will "we, the people" put up with this?? At what point do we say "ENOUGH!!" ??????????
ReplyDeleteJust more creative ways dumbocrats steal from the working man at the point of a gun!
