TAYLOR'S ISLAND, MD - A burglary attempt Monday at a Hoopers Neck home was thwarted by the shotgun-wielding homeowner, who sustained minor cuts after tangling with one of the suspects, according to a press release from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
The burglary attempt occurred early Monday morning, according to Dorchester Sheriff James Phillips, who said a homeowner at 4613 Hoopers Neck was awakened by noises coming from his garage.
The homeowner, who remains unnamed, according to policy of the sheriff's office, carried a shotgun when he went to investigate and told deputies that he fired twice in the direction of a porch on the garage after observing two men in his garage.
After the homeowner fired his shotgun, he told deputies, one of the men ran away, but the other attacked him with what he believed to be a box knife. Phillips said the homeowner sustained two minor cuts, one on his face and another on his chest. He was treated at the scene by Dorchester Emergency Medical Services.
The two people observed by the homeowner in his garage are described as black males. Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at 410-228-4141; calls may remain confidential.
why o why didn't he shoot em when he was attacked with a knife. clearly self defense and one less brotha breaking into peoples homes.
ReplyDeleteWe really need to start cutting thieves hands off when we catch them.

ReplyDeleteA lesson learned , come visit Bennie Smith or Jolley Memorial
you will never leave.
AMEN! Shoot the worthless lowlifes!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing ...thats one house that will not be the target of another burglary. Liberals call the police, who arrive in 30 minutes or so. Works great (thats sarcasm, of course). The rest of us go see what the problem is with a .45 colt or a 12 gauge. And WE handle the problem. And don't have to tell the police about the beating we took, the money that was stolen, or how the criminals raped our wife. And we don't have to listen to the police ask endless details so they can file a "report". Serving and protecting. I prefer to do my own, thank you. Hats off to the bad dude in Hoopers Neck.
ReplyDeleteQUESTION FOR THOSE AGAINST GUNS:
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think would have happened to the homeowner if he didnt have a shotgun???
Keep in mind he fired two shots and the guy still tried to cut him with a box cutter??
2nd amendment wins again
Imclain,
ReplyDeleteDon't be too sure the home owner won't be targeted again. I know of one case where a homeowner on a secluded farm had his home robbed while he was away. He notified the police, but the next day the same thing happened again. That night, he dug a little trench at the end of his long drive and placed boards with long nails sticking up. When he arrived home the next night his trap had evidently angered the scum thieves, as they burned his house down before they left. The best response to those who violate your person or property is shoot to kill the first time!
"Liberals call the police, who arrive in 30 minutes or so"
ReplyDeleteI hope you realize that you should ALWAYS immediately call the police if you suspect a break in (if you possibly can. . .its not a sign of weakness)! Thats just common sense and is taught in firearms training courses (have you taken one?). If you don't call the police and you lose the battle? You have no backup. You lay there bleeding until you die. Cops find you 2 days later. You're wrong, i'm a liberal and I own many guns and not just the sporting variety. I will TRY to retreat with my family to a safe part of the home (to honor the law). . .if the robber enters that part they will be killed. If I can't I will shoot first and ask questions later. Better judged by 12 than carried by 6. Chances are it will be one event or the other in this day and age. I've had this conversation with my grandmother and she is very "anti-gun". . .she won't keep a revolver. Can't convince her that the gun is a great equalizer. . .makes a 90 lb woman able to bring down a 250 lb man. . .but maybe her belief makes her stronger than me. . .that shes willing to die rather than pick up a gun and take someones life. Maybe that makes her stronger than me. I don't fear death but I do have some fear about how i'll die. I'd like to control that as much as I can. So liberals? I don't think you can lump them into the anti-gun category that easily. I certainly love my guns and see their value. I think every honest adult should have one.
The robber learned the lesson of Dont take a knife to a gunfight
