Kratovil Endorses Obama’s “Leadership”
Democrat Frank Kratovil hasn't decided whether to run for his old seat in Congress next year, but he nevertheless made an interesting play Friday by showing up to President Barack Obama's town hall at the University of Maryland. The move appeared to pay off.
Obama, speaking to 1,000 students on the College Park campus -- not to mention a national television audience -- shouted out to the former Eastern Shore congressman three times during the event, which was focused on the economy and the debt ceiling negotiations.
"Former congressman Frank Kratovil is here," Obama said, as he thanked several currently elected Maryland officials in the audience for attending, such as Gov. Martin O'Malley and Sen. Benjamin L. Cardin. "You wouldn't know it looking at him, but Frank is an outstanding basketball player. The Terps might be able to use him, even at this age...He's got all kinds of moves."
Kratovil, a lawyer, was one of dozens of Democrats who were swept into the House of Representatives in the 2008 election that sent Obama to the White House. He was swept right back out in 2010 by Rep. Andy Harris, a Republican anesthesiologist. Despite a fair amount of speculation, Kratovil hasn't said whether he'll run again.
"A lot of his talk is very much where I am philosophically," Kratovil said of Obama's address. "We are very good at getting people elected, but we're not very good at electing people who can lead."
I, for one, like Frank Kratovil and his Family.
ReplyDeleteOne can't expect anything different. After all, Frank is a democrat and was there in support of President Obama.
Frank got a taste of politics and seems to enjoy it. My obvious guess is that Frank would like to get back into the game.
Someone put up an interesting comment earlier today. In fact, they asked if we would make it into a poll question at some point and time. Nevertheless, it more or less said, Do you think that right wing and left wing people are ememies in this day and age.
I, (for one) am NOT an enemy of democrats. I believe that BOTH parties have great ideas. However, my big problem is based on someone running for office and then them following through with their beliefs.
Let's look at Andy Harris and the freshman republicans right now for example. IF they vote completely against ANY tax increases, (or at least pound their chest saying they won't) what's going to happen when a compromise comes about and they do in fact vote for some kind of tax increase. It will make them look weak, that's what it will do.
Our country is in very deep trouble. In a conversation last night I was asked what I would do or recommend, (after the President's speech).
I said, the country needs to bite the bullet and go belly up. Oh, sure, many of you will scream, how could you say that.
I'll tell you how. Millions of Americans are going bankrupt right now and part of the reason is the bailouts corporate america received. GE, GM, Chrysler and the Banking Industry should have been forced to go belly up too. If you want to argue against tha5t, look at where we are today because we bailed them out.
WE THE PEOPLE are paying the price and LOSING out because of it.
SO, the arguement back to me was, we'll lose our credit rating and there will be riots in the streets.
American history tends to repeat itself. We've had riots in the past and we'll have them in the future. Yes, even I could lose everything. HOWEVER, I'm an American and I can survive, so can you.
The bottom line is, our government is out of control, period. The more we let this crap continue, (both parties) the worse its going to get!
If we bottom out and lower our bond rating, GUESS WHAT, we CAN'T keep spending! You know, like ALL of thoise Americans who have now gone bankrupt.
We don't deserve MORE MONEY and MORE CREDIT! Our country allowed too many companies to pack up their american roots and move the China and elsewhere. We KNEW it would some day come around to this. Either we pull our heads out of our butts or things will be a million times worse 10 years from now.
Interest rates need to be around 9%, PERIOD! Mortgages, car loans, I don't care what it is. You CANNOT build an economy with the rates we now have.
Both parties need to WAKE UP. In closing, they also need to learn to get along. We are Americans, not enemies.
Our country is in very deep trouble. Part of the cause is people like Frank Kratovil; he voted to allow Obamacare to move forward, as well as the other programs that helped generate $4Trillion in deficit spending and a significant rise in unemployment, and reversed the recovery that was beginning (and would have made them both heroes if they had left economics run its course) since 2008. I pray that Obama is ousted as swiftly as Kratovil so we can begin to get what was four years ago a proud, world leading country back and on the road to prosperity.
ReplyDeleteSince the Krat-boy got booted from Congress, he has too much tome on his hands.
ReplyDeleteActually, Kratovil voted against the healthcare bill.
ReplyDeleteIf his vote would have been needed, he would have voted for it. They gave him a pass to attempt to get him re-elected.
ReplyDeleteAlex you must know Pelosie let Frank vote against the healthcare bill because his vote was not needed, she thought that the no vote might save his job.
ReplyDeleteWhat leadership from Obama?
ReplyDeleteDid I miss something?
Blaming everything on Bush and failing to have any plan on any subject is not leadership
Alex you are correct, he did vote against the bill itself because, as 2:37 said, his vote was not needed. What I, 1:14 said was "he voted to allow Obamacare to move forward". Without that vote it never would have gotten to the arm twisting, bribing, favor exchange plateau it reached in getting passed.
