BREAKING NEWS: Casey Anthony Sentenced to 1 Year on Each Count for Lying
Casey Anthony sentenced to one year for each of four counts, with credit for time served, for lying during police investigation into the death of her daughter, Caylee.
I don't condone what she did or didn't do, BUT, let me get this stright, you have the right to remain silent, and you also have the worry of anything you say could be used against you in court. If you did do something and were not too sure how to deal with the Cops, you might lie. So now if you lie to protect yourself you go to jail? So your dammed if you do, and dammed if you don't. You talk you get into trouble, you lie to avoid trouble you get into trouble. This sounds like to me an excuse for avoiding a civil lawsuit against the Cops for wrongful imprisonment for almost 3 years she spent in jail. Violating our most cherished tenent, "Inocent, till proven guilty" you don't lock up inocent people. The truth is, we have changed it to, "Guilty till you can prove otherwise" I just can't imagion as a parent not going nuts if my child was missing for 5 minutes! She is mental. She and her whole family are off. But I also don't like that America is becoming a "Police State".
Besides the fact you CANNOT lie to law enforcement under any circumstances, Casey has the right to ask for an attorney and keep her mouth shut as soon as the cops began to ask her questions. She declined that right and made up a few stories as to what happened. She was able to get off although its a forgone conclusion she did kill her child. But she not only LIED TO THE COPS when her baby was missing, SHE WASTED TIME/MANPOWER/AND TAX PAYERS MONEY when she lied to the law enforcement and that is what she is really being punished for.

Hasn't the Supreme Court already weighed in on the citizen's right to lie?
ReplyDeleteThe politicians in government lie to us on a daily basis. Lets throw them in jail too.
ReplyDeleteFlerndip, Why, they'll just claim "time served" anyway.
