A study by a California judge and his law clerk, a law professor suggests that the state should do away with the death penalty in order to save money. The state has spent $4 billion on capital punishment since 1978, but has only executed 13 convicts in that span. And costs are projected to increase to $9 billion by 2030.

California is full of liberal idiots. How much does Texas spend?
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA wow atleast the people who deserve to die, die in a peaceful manner....if it costs this much take those who are on death row outback to a firing squad. That should save some money...
ReplyDeleteExactly, use the firing squad. Cost = 1 bullett
ReplyDelete8:27, and how many innocent men have been put to death in Texas and across the country?
ReplyDeleteThe death penalty is inefficient and expensive in every state due to our nation commitment to due process and rights of appeal. These are also American values.
ReplyDeleteMuch better to reserve life sentences for only the most serious offenders, and long sentences with possibility of parole for most of the more serious offenses. This gives our DOC more control over the prisoners, and would allow them to more easily isolate the few true lifers.
It costs about a million dollars to house a lifer for 15-50 years. Death penalty cases can easily cost more than this. Lawsuits from the families of nonviolent offenders hurt or killed in prison are also very expensive. The way we currently do things is not working well.
We need to return to some traditional methods, and learn from other countries on some others. - David Hearne
Their death doesn't cost, it's the cost of keeping their worthless hides in jail and the constant games their lawyers play with our court system. Find them guilty, take them out behind the court house and end it right there, only costs a few bucks!! Of course, the ignorant liberals would be crying it's not fair but everyone knows they're morons anyway so who cares! The ultimate penalty? If they're found guilty take them to the front steps, have the victim's family waiting and release them, now that's divined justice! Guarantee you crime would go down quickly!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to David Hearn, I agree, let's learn from other countries. The ones who have the death penalty, harsh penalties and immediate punishment have much less crimes than other countries, point proven! Steal? Cut off their hand. Rape? Cut off their privates. Murder? Cut off their heads!
And no liberals, it's not about being barbaric. It's about us not being a country of sissies afraid to punish evil people. Besides that, ever notice most criminals vote democratic? Um, wonder why!
