Joe-
A guy just came to my house ("Harry Wilson," I think he said), driving a black Toyota Matrix and when she answered the door, he told my wife he was there to hook us up to Comcast.
I told him we hadn't ordered cable.. he said he knew that, but was there to hook us up anyway.. it was 'free'.
I told him we weren't interested, but he kept pushing.. I told him no at least 4 times, but he kept insisting on installing it.
I had to get VERY direct with him in order to get him to leave my house.
I hate to think what might have happened if my wife had been here alone.
I don't know how many others have had this experience, but I'd strongly recommend locking the door and refusing to let him in if he shows up.
We had two young men and a child selling steaks out of a pickup with a cooler on the back. I ask if he had a food license? Oh yea but did not produce it. It is illegal to sell anytype of food with out a license!!!
ReplyDeleteWe called the Wicomico Health Dept and gave the truck and Del license plate number. If people would only report this type of "business" we would have less of this.Food has to be kept a certain temperature or else you take a big chance of food posining/death.
Anyone selling ANY food for consumption is by law required to have a food license and a commercial kitchen to cook it in.
Be careful what you purchase. It will save you the strife of getting very ill.
i don't believe that comcast would send someone out to hook up free cable. maybe he was casing the joint for future robberies or home invasion.
ReplyDeletewhere roughly are u located? City?
ReplyDelete12:01 That is what I was thinking. Or maybe he wanted to see if a female at home by herself would answer the door and he made up the whole "comcast" story when a male answered.
ReplyDeleteComcast does NOT give free cable. Nuf said
ReplyDelete@1151 Was the truck a blue dodge dakota with rusted fenders and a freezer on back?
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne area, 12:29
ReplyDeleteThe vehicle was just seen again in the area-- he's still around.
His demeanor is not trustworthy-- be careful.
The safety of our customers is very important to us. If you did not request for service or installation please do not entertain someone who claims to be an employee of Comcast. Always ask for ID and call Comcast for verification. Our employees wear uniforms, carries official ID and drive a vehicle with a Comcast logo. If none of these are visible, do not entertain them.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind letting me know your location so we can investigate further?

I DID call comcast about it-- I got some guy in a call center in Florida who couldn't tell me anything.
ReplyDeleteIt was in the Princess Anne area, zip 21853.
did you call the police & report it?
ReplyDeleteMark Casem, Maybe you should come to our area personally to see how incredibly rude your company is here! We have had service issues in the past and when we do in most cases it takes getting bent out of shape that turns ugly to get Comcast to respond. The only reason we stay with Comcast is for internet service if we had another option we would take it. I have had other friends with complaints the same as the original post and the person was a Comcast employee.
ReplyDeleteLast year someone came to my door with a great deal that would give me HD service, 180 channels, and all kinds of good stuff. All this for only 29.99 a month. I was already paying $65. a month and didn't have HD service. I took it and when I got my first bill from comcast it was over $130 a month. After trying to get some resolution through Comcast I had to report them to the Better Business Bureau. If another salesperson from Comcast sets foot on my doorstep I will be ready for him.
ReplyDeleteComcast, offer to wire somebody? And do it for free? Obviously a scam. Comcast refuses to wire almost 40% of Wicomico County, and I'm betting the % is higher in Somerset. If someone from Comcast claims they're there to do something for free, go get the cops - they ain't from Comcast. That horrible corporation won't even take money from families that WANT to give it to them!
ReplyDeleteThot they had to "wire" you from the pole to your house. Anything inside has to be charged for. A tech hooked up my aunt, threw away her tv remote since" it isn't any good any more" & now she can't turn off her tv. Yeah the bill was HUGE! So much for the "no charge" promise. HEY, WE DIDN"T ASK FOR IT!
ReplyDelete6:26,
ReplyDeleteI think you got up too early. LOL
