Prince William Toddler Left in Minivan Found Dead

A 2-year-old boy in Northern Virginia who died Friday may have been left in a family minivan in the heat for several hours, police said.

Prince William County police identified the boy as Ryan Murphy. His parents' names were not released.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Chinn said the minivan was in the driveway of the family home when the child was found in a car seat. She said it appears the boy was in the vehicle all day and that the death may be heat-related.

Chinn said the mother's screams once the child was discovered alerted a neighbor, who administered CPR.

Police said an investigation continues.

  2. The bi*ch needs to be drawn and quartered. Let's bring back some punishments w/ teeth and some social humiliation. What's wrong w/ stocks and pillories on the courthouse lawn? Early lessons in responsibility and facing the results of you actions will promote respect for your fellow man.

  3. How can a Mom not know where her small child like that is at all times? She deserves to be put in the hot car, no AC, all the windows up, and left all day long just like what happened to the child.

  5. After seeing these comments, I have to chime in. When I was 35 with my first daughter, and we were in the complex day of getting the pickup hitched to the rented moving van, sending the car to the local consignment shop, locking up the house and getting the keys back to the real estate agent(my job), the wife and I met up at a friend's house to begin our long moving journey to the Eastern shore. She said,"Where's the baby?" and I said "I thought she was with you!". I had forgotten her on the living room carpeted floor back at the rental, where I found her happy and healthy.

We are all just humans, we make mistakes, we all bleed red. God holds us in His hands and offers Love and Truth. We have to stay with Him to get through. May He hold these parents in His loving arms and the lesson be learned by others for the protection of the rest.

Thank you lord for watching out for us who follow You.
