Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt plans to reinstitute a burn ban. In response to a recent increase in fires, SbyNEWS’s Joe Albero asked Pollitt if he planned to re-institute the ban. Pollitt stated that he will be meeting with a committee next week to put a burn ban in place ASAP:
Our committee meets next week and I expect we’ll have to do it.
Pollitt also noted that the Maryland Department of Natural Resources wants him to wait until the end of next week.
Rick, Grow a pair, forget the meeting and institute a ban...now.
ReplyDeleteThis guy is such a reactionary. Again, he can't lead, he just follows. He'd better not affect BBQ's! Where are all of the people who voted for him and talked up his "LEADERSHIP" qualities? Are you kidding me!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe should ban burning our money on waste.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody care about why the experts, the DNR, want the ban to wait a week? Or do you just want to take any opportunity to bash Pollitt? When I saw the topic of this post, I wondered how long it would take for some moron to find away to turn it into a negative for Pollitt. You guys are so predictable.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 12:16, I don't know where you're coming off suggesting GA or I are trying to bash Pollitt in any way, shape or form here. Your comment is out of line.
ReplyDeleteJust because DNR has suggested he wait until the end of next week to consider the ban, doesn't mean Rick holds any responsibility towards such a decision and we never implied such.
That is the kind of comment I personally would normally reject, simply because it is untrue. However, you people want to see them all, we're delivering them. Mind you, we will come back and comment ourselves just to prove some of you wrong.
WOW -- it looks like Rick made this announcement by himself. He really does not need a "public information officer" (or a "communications director").
ReplyDeleteJoe, 12:16 here. I did not mean to imply that either of you were trying to bash Pollitt - rather your readers would pounce on any opportunity just because they see red meat at the sight of his name. The "predictable guys" were the commenters, not you. And I for one would like to know why the DNR asked him to wait before I make a judgement on the advisability of such a decision. The commenters don't seem to care if there might be a valid reason for waiting. I don't know if there is, but they don't know if there isn't. Please don't rush to judgement that every comment is about you, and I will try to be more direct next time. Thanks for posting, even if you might not have in the past.
ReplyDeleteWe don't need a burn ban. Period. I will give him credit, however, for spending some time thinking about something else other than where to spend more money or how to get more money from the citizens.
