(June 9, 2011) – It’s time! The 2011 OC Air Show and the “Year of Extreme Flight” are here,
and they will be unlike anything ever seen over the beaches and Boardwalk of Ocean City,
Maryland!
Co-headliners for the June 11-12 event, the F-18 Super Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier jet demo
teams, will show you what marvels of aeronautical engineering can do when pushed to their
limits! Other military performers include the A-10 Warthog, the C-17 Globemaster III, the
gigantic C-5 Galaxy and the sleek B-2 Spirit “stealth bomber.”
The Red Bull Helicopter and pilot Chuck Aaron, the only civilian certified for helicopter
aerobatics, will dazzle spectators with flips and turns like you’ve never seen. Aaron will be
joined by the wing-suited skydiving team of the Red Bull Air Force!
Civilian stunt pilots Rob Holland in his Veterans Home Loan MX-2, pilot Mike Goulian in his
A-36 Bonanza, will fly head-to-head in a spectacular crowd-pleasing set. Other civilian
performers include Tim Weber in his skywriting GEICO Extra 300, pilot Sean Carroll in his
Yak-9, and the precision group flying of Team RV.
The U.S. Army Special Ops Black Daggers and the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles will
perform a joint night jump over the beach for the Miller Lite Saturday Night Beach Party, held
June 11 on the beach at 16th Street. General admission is free!
Performances will take place over the Ocean City beachfront beginning at noon both Saturday
and Sunday. The air show will be visible along the majority of the Boardwalk, creating an
inspiring experience for visitors while they enjoy the hospitality of Ocean City’s beach and
attractions. Practice runs will be held Friday.
Show Center Beach, extending from 14th to 17th streets, will offer premium viewing in the Drop
Zone, Waterfront Clubhouse and the new VIP Penthouse on the rooftop of the Quality Inn 16th
Street.
