Incident: Motor Vehicle Accident

Date of Incident: 3 June 2011

Location: Bethel Road, Willards, MD
                                
Narrative: On 3 June 2011 at 4:30 PM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded for a reported single vehicle motor vehicle accident on Bethel Road in Willards. Upon arrival, they discovered a small Chevrolet pick-up truck had collided with a concrete bridge abutment causing significant damage to the vehicle. Fire personnel on scene had to use equipment to forcibly open the vehicle in order to extract the 17 year old driver and his passenger, Sarah Morris, 18.

Morris was transported via helicopter to PRMC in Salisbury while the 17 year old juvenile travelled by ambulance. Upon reaching PRMC, the staff made a determination to transport the juvenile via helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Both subjects are considered to be in Critical Condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Preliminary investigation revealed speed may be a factor in the crash.

Incident: Assault

Date of Incident: 5 June 2011

Location: 100 block of Montleau Avenue, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Chad Harmon, 27, Salisbury, MD
                                
Narrative: On  5 June 2011  at  12:58 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported altercation inside a residence in the 100 block of Montleau Avenue in Salisbury.  Upon arrival, the deputy met with a female victim who told the deputy she was discussing the required anger management class her boyfriend, Chad Harmon was required to attend when Harmon allegedly became both verbally and physically abusive towards her. Harmon is accused of damaging a wall in the residence and then pushing the victim against a dresser while choking her. The assault allegedly continued with Harmon grabbing the victim in her genital area and choking her further.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the deputy observed signs of fresh injury on the victim and decided to place Harmon under arrest. Upon attempting to effect and arrest, Harmon resisted, requiring the deputy to have to forcibly subdue Harmon.

Harmon was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Harmon was detained by the Commissioner in the Detention Center in lieu of $85,000.00 bond.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence

Date of Incident: 4 June 2011

Location: Levin Dashiell Road, Hebron, MD

Suspect: Kyle E. Kolmodin, 19, Hebron, MD
                                
Narrative: On 4 June 2011 at 10:35 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped
a vehicle operated by Kyle Kolmodin of Hebron for erratic driving. Upon contacting Kyle, the deputy
suspected that Kyle was impaired due to his physical demeanor, actions and speech. The deputy did not
detect any odor of alcohol and began to suspect that Kyle was under the influence of narcotics.

The deputy administered roadside field sobriety tests which confirmed the suspicion that Kyle was under the influence of narcotics. During the encounter, Kyle admitted to being behind the wheel after taking two different narcotics prior to driving.

The deputy placed Kyle under arrest and transported him to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed.  Kyle was released upon signing citations.

Incident: Assault

Date of Incident: 4 June 2011

Location: 800 block of Chippewa Blvd., Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Valincia R. Sessoms, 27, Salisbury, MD
                                
Narrative: On 4 June 2011 at 1:11 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported altercation inside a residence in the 800 block of Chippewa Blvd. in Salisbury. Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that Valincia Sessoms became embroiled in an argument with a male subject in her residence when Sessoms pushed him down. The deputy saw signs of injury on the male subject that corroborated this account.

The deputy placed Sessoms under arrest and transported her to the Central Booking Unit where she was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Sessoms on Personal Recognizance.

HARDWIRE LLC DONATES BALLISTIC CLIPBOARDS TO Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office

On Friday, May 27, 2011, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office was the second recipient of ballistic grade clipboards from Hardwire LLC.  Representatives from Hardwire LLC, a local armor and survivability company located in Pocomoke, MD, visited the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office to donate the protective items to be used by their officers. The clipboards are manufactured from the same materials being manufactured from their highly successful armor program to increase the survivability of the HMMWV. Sheriff Mike Lewis, who has had the opportunity to witness firsthand what the engineers are accomplishing at the Hardwire facility in Pocomoke City, MD., had this to say: “It was a pleasure to see not only the outside of the box thinking that was going on at Hardwire, but the fact that they are actually acting on these ideas and building the products that benefit from them. This type of thinking will save the lives of our sons and daughters. The fact that they are giving back to the local communities in these times of economic insecurity with products to protect us at home is very admirable.” Following the donation Hardwire representatives accompanied several officers to the shooting range and had the opportunity to display the clipboards ballistic characteristics first hand. At this time five different types of ammunition were fired into a single clipboard at close range and finally a shotgun was fired; there was no penetration of the clipboard.
