As promised, Mayor James M. Baker today vetoed the Wilmington budget passed by City Council last week.
John Rago, communications director for Baker, said the veto was submitted in a letter today to Council President Norman Griffiths.
Baker said the budget as approved is not balanced as required by law.
The mayor’s letter expressed hope for a compromise with City Council to resolve differences on a budget plan.
