The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Detectives have obtained warrants and are searching for a New Castle man after being connected to a robbery of three females at a residence located in the 2000 block of Porter Road, Bear on Saturday morning just after midnight, May 14, 2011.  Further details of the incident were made available after the thorough and untiring investigative efforts of the Detectives who were able identify the suspect as David W. Jones-35 of New Castle, DE.

The investigation revealed that the suspect contacted an escort service and arranged to meet the 30 year old female victim at a predetermined location located at a residence in the 2000 block of Porter Road.  The 30 year old female victim, accompanied by the 40 and 55 year old female victims, drove to the location to meet David W. Jones.  Upon arrival at the residence the 30 year old female victim contacted Jones and went inside the house, while the other two females remained outside in the car.

Once inside the house, Jones identified himself as a Police Officer and displayed a gold badge and a weapon described as a “Taser” device.  Jones showed the 30 year old victim photo’s of two females that he stated that he was attempting to identify their “Pimp”.  Jones then bound the wrists of the victim, placed her in a bedroom and went outside and approached the two other females that were seated in the car.  Jones again identified himself as a Police Officer and had the two female victims exit the car and ordered them to follow him into the house.  Once inside he placed the 40 and 55 year old female victims in the bedroom with the 30 year old female and instructed all of them to remain in the bedroom and to wait for a female officer.

Jones then exited the residence and fled in the victim’s vehicle described as a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, red in color, with Pennsylvania registration GYM9263.

During the investigation it was determined that Jones had burglarized the residence by kicking in the rear door.  It was also determined that the residence is vacant and is owned by an individual that resides out of State.

As the investigation continued the stolen Hyundai Elantra was located on Shai Circle, Bear on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at approximately 1:10 p.m. where Troopers observed a white male enter the vehicle and drive away.  Troopers attempted to follow the vehicle but the operator fled at a high rate of speed.  Troopers were unable to locate the vehicle after it fled.

Further investigation and interviews led to the identification of David W. Jones as the suspect.

Detectives have obtained warrants charging David W. Jones with the above crimes.  Troopers continue to search for Jones who should be considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone that comes into contact with or observes Jones or the stolen vehicle that he fled in should contact 911 immediately.
