DOVER, Del. (AP) -- State lawmakers are considering a bill requiring parental consent before a girl under the age of 18 could get an abortion in Delaware.
Under the bill, one of the girl's parents would have to consent to an abortion, except in the case of a medical emergency. If the parents are divorced, consent of the parent with custody would be sufficient.
In a pregnancy resulting from incest involving the father, the girl would need only her mother's consent. If both parents have died or are otherwise unavailable, a guardian could provide the consent.

Has anyone heard about how recently that 10 year old girl ended up in the hospital because she was raped and her parents wouldn't let her get an abortion, and she went to give herself one with a PENCIL?
ReplyDeleteA ten year old being pregnant is life threatening, or dangerous in general! Even if she's perfectly fine throughout the pregnancy, the childbirth could go very badly and she could die!
Not to mention, getting raped is a traumatic experience, more so to a younger child because their bodies are nowhere NEAR ready to have a kid, let alone are they mentally ready! And if a parent denies the right for that child to NOT become a parent with their RAPIST'S baby, is inhumane and a violation of human rights. Do they want to destroy lives? Go ahead and proceed with this law.
That said, there ARE kids whom make stupid mistakes, but that's why we need better sex education. My mom had me two weeks after she turned 18 because her education on the matter in terms of protection was not good enough!
That said, is a teenager finds herself in a sticky situation, perhaps a bad home life, or her boyfriend has started showing abusive tendencies, shouldn't she have the right to terminate the pregnancy than bring a baby into the world in what could be bad circumstances(such as with the latter, her boyfriend being abusive, that baby could end up abused or homeless if the girl cannot afford to take care of the child. Adoption isn't really a great option anymore, the child, if not adopted promptly, could end up without a family!)
1012-Kids need parental consent to go a field trip with school. What is so outlandish to say parental consent should be required in the case of an abortion?
ReplyDeleteGrace- Do you and the other Planned Parenthood shills just prowl the internet looking for these kinds of posts so you can try to discredit them?
ReplyDeleteThe extreme circumstances you describe are very rare.
The vast majority of abortions are done for young women who are just promiscuous.
Regardless, THIS bill is about getting parental consent-- if there's any discussion of "rights" to be had here, it would be the parent's right to manage the life of their child.

ReplyDeleteI take offense to your claim that the vast majority of abortions done are for "just promiscuous" women.
Some are in perfectly stable relationships but one thing or another happens. Women who have an abortion already have enough stigma to them, they don't need another label to add to it.
If parental consent is required, then the custody of the child born should go directly to the parents who denied their child the option. Just my opinion.

At the anon whom replied to me, LOL. I followed this blog for a while, and simply posted my comment. Why do anons like you think you have a right to affiliate people like me with the people at PP? I've NEVER EVEN BEEN TO ONE.
ReplyDeleteAs for promiscuous women being the only one getting abortions(which is not true, that said. Hell, even a lot of anti-abortion crazy people[the ones whom protest against them and the likes] get abortions and are terrified of their friends/family finding out).
Take that faceless anon coward.
That said while I agree with the DJ anon on the custody going straight to those whom denied the abortion, what if, say her DAD raped her? For all you know, she can't talk to her mother about it, or her mom doesn't believe her, and the parents don't let her get an abortion- that's why the law shouldn't be legal.
