SALISBURY – LET’S HOPE WE GET A HARRIS TEETER STORE SOON

We regret the closing of the Superfresh store on College Avenue, but it would be a great location for a Harris Teeter supermarket, which would give the Giant a real battle to remain Salisbury’s food emporium of choice for the local elite. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?

PS – if you don’t know about Harris Teeter, visit one of their 3 stores in Sussex County, Delaware – Millsboro, Selbyville and Bethany.

  1. I don't know Harris Teeter but I do know Publix and they, also, would give Giant alot of competition.

  4. I vote for a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or Harris Tetter...they all carry healthy food options.

  6. Harris Teeter are expensive just like Giant!!!...I would rather shop at Food Lion or WalMart where their prices are much cheaper. Thank Goodness for coupons. That is the only time I step into Giant or HT. But we something instead of an empty shell and lost jobs. I dont know much about Safeway's prices..Maybe we need a safeway in Salisbury.

  7. Super Fresh is more expensive than some stores. However, they have outstanding bargain prices on sale items, and they will double (sometimes triple)coupons on top of that. They seem to have $1.00 items quite often too. I save tons of money there, and I only go in to buy sale items. I wish they would stay, I am going to miss them!!

  8. For healthy foods try the Railway Market in Easton.

  9. I would love to see a Harris Teeter or Publix. I have lived in areas where I've had the opportunity to shop at both. As for Trader Joes, don't hold your breath, my wife visited the headquarters in Monrovia, CA (Mother-in-law lives there)last summer and they know about our area, but we are too far off the beaten path for supply

  11. Maybe the extreme couponers put them under? It has to have had some effect.

  12. Trader Joes would be fantastic!!!! Healthy food options, but affordable prices.

  13. I just don't know if Harris Teeter would be successful because it is a high-end store....lots of good stuff, but pricey. A Publix store would be wonderful! They run very good sales, and their quality is very good.

  14. We need a new grocery store for the local "elite"? Leave us lowly heathens to go to food lion.

  15. I have been to the Harris Teeter in Selbyville and I didn't like it. Things were way over priced.
I stopped going to Superfresh years ago when the staff was so nasty and most of the time the things they had advertised they either didn't have in stock or when you got there you had to spend so much before you could get the sale price.

  16. walmart isn't always the cheaper option. they take advantage of shoppers assuming they have the best deals and sneak in higher price instead. I never buy milk there, it's $1.00 MORE per gallon than I pay at a drug store or convenience store. seriously folks, check it out.

  17. I am so disappointed today. First they took away Safeway and now Super Fresh. What do they think we are? I can depend on GOOD meat and fish at Super Fresh!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO don't do this to us!!!! Barb P.S. I forgot they also have the best deli trays and we get all of our cakes from them for birthdays.

  18. It would be awesome to have a Trader Joes here on the Delmarva Peninsula.

  19. Hopefully Salisbury will get an Aldi's one day. It's a non-name brand store, but it's top quality. Everything is made or grown in the USA. I go there for the basics and save money everytime. Some are turned off by not shopping name brands, until they try the products. Would do very well near the college.

  20. I never want to hear how high food is at Super Fresh, for those who want Wholefoods, and Harris Teeter. Most of us could not afford them.

  21. I would like to see Wegmans come into the area. I have shopped in their stores in upstate NY and they are great for the gormet or the batchlor.

    They have it all!!!

Whole foods suck and they have snotty employees. We are not missing anything by not having them around here. Except high priced 'organic' food they say is healthier for you but has recently been disproven.

Wonder how them folks feel about being ripped off?

  23. Giant use to be the cat's meow and had everything! Since that new company bought them they eliminated alot and never can I go and get what I need. However, Super Fresh is now how Giant use to be. Hope Super Fresh sticks around cause I HATE Giant.

  24. 1036-Yeah, whole foods are pretty expensive. But, their bakery is top notch, their deli is better than any major supermarket, plus you avoid the landwhales you see at wal-mart. Many guys like myself, go chick-shoppin at Whole Foods. It'd work by the college, remember those shoppers are the same fools who's parents send them from out of state for SU(13K per semester for non-residents).

Guess you and others didn't see the report that said those places didn't sell food any healthier than any other non-organic store. But they did charge you a lot more for the illusion.
