Are Our Public Officials Blind?

I have to disclose that the above pictures were taken yesterday around 3:00 PM. WHY, because the prices keep changing sometimes by the hour.

That being said, most of you see and know what the price of gas is on Rt. 13 either at the north or south ends of Salisbury. If gas prices are REGULATED, why are these stations $ .20 to $ .25 cents per gallon higher?

I spoke to a friend of mine yesterday who was blown away that Sam's Club was $ .25 cents per gallon less than what he was paying. He lives towards the west side of town. He also has a 35 gallon tank in his vehicle. That's a $8.75 saving per tank full.

We elect these politicians to PROTECT and SERVE, yet what are we really getting? At the price of gas per gallon, I personally believe its time they do their job and stop this out of control practice.

  4. Joe, your a business person, it's called competition, there is none where those stations are and there is competition in Salisbury. We don't need big brother regulating every thing we buy and do. People pay the higher price because it's convienent for them to buy gas there.

  5. I live on the west side of town and REFUSE to buy gas at Goose Creek, One Stop, Royal Farms or Shore Stop on RT 50! Convenience my butt...

  6. How is a Republican asking for even more regulation. Oh, because it's under "Serve and Protect". Republicans declare they want a bare minimum of government....until it benefits them. Then they want so much regulation. C'mon now.

  7. Wow, is Mardela actually defending higher gas prices? I personally don't know why or how gas prices got so high, but it's ridiculous.

  9. The Republicans aren't going to do anything about the high gas prices because they "think" it makes them look better simply because the high prices are under a Democratic President.
We still haven't broken the record gas price that was set under....let's see....Bush?

  10. Wawa is selling gasoline below cost.

    This is illegal.

They are engaged in predatory pricing to put local business owners out of business.

Some in town are defending themselves and others cannot afford to sell below cost.

If you go outside of Salisbury you will see prices 20 cents higher in every direction. Salisbury has the lowest gasoline prices for at least 200 miles in any direction.

That is simply a fact. It is about Wawa's predatory pricing strategy.

The law making it illegal to sell motor fuel below cost is stupid and immoral. The price should be determined by market not the government.

Fact is virtually ever retailer that sells motor fuel is a glorified convenience store. This in the present business model for operating a business that sell motor fuel. The business owner makes his money from selling the products off the shelves inside the store not from selling motor fuel. Gone are the days when the business model was a half dozen pumps in front of a 2 or 3 bay garage that sold tires, changed oil and did routine service and maintenance on costumers vehicles. Even under the old business model the owner of business made his money in the garage.

And those of you that pay for your motor fuel at the pump with a credit or debit card, you are picking the business owner pocket.
