Americans for Prosperity Praises Rep. Harris for voting to Cut the Budget, Honoring Campaign Promises
Over 100 AFP members from the 1st Congressional District met with Rep. Andy Harris before AFP’s Cut Spending Now Rally on April 6th encouraging him to fight for effective budget cuts. Since that meeting Rep Harris backed up his rhetoric by responsibly voting for Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget reforms.
“Congressman Harris is showing real leadership and honesty to his constituents by backing up his promises with action since the election” said Charles Lollar, State Director, AFP. “With America facing a $14 trillion debt we need more policy makers to make sure the 2010 referendum on Congress from the American People is enacted by cutting spending now.”
Last year’s Democratic controlled Congress failed to fund the government for the remainder of this fiscal year. Congressman Harris voted against the continuing resolutions because the total amounts of cuts were not equal to the pledged cuts.
“Getting serious about reducing spending must be our elected officials’ number one priority. Though the spending cuts in the continuing resolutions were a good start, we’re proud to see Rep. Harris to stand up to all of Congress advocating for full meaningful cuts in all budgetary bills.”
