My emotions say to kill the monster and the sooner the better. However, the rational side says to sentence hime to prison for the rest of his life, however short it may be. I believe that if he is sentenced to death, there will be appeal after appeal wasting the tax payers dollars. If he is sentenced to life, he will be housed in protective custody because there have already been numerous threats on his life at various correctional institutions across the state. There will be much more suffering for Leggs if he is sentenced to life. Just my 2 cents....
I say give him life. In prison he will have to constantly watch over his shoulder. Richard Spicknall convicted of killing his 2 children was found dead in the prison shower with a rag stuffed in his mouth. This wasn't the first time in Jessup an attempt was made on his life. If given the death penalty he will sit on death row until the appeals are finished. Death row is like protective custody and the inmates have little contact with the general population.
I must agree with 12:06. Although what Mr. Leggs is accused of is so heinous as to merit the death penalty, maybe even better retribution would be exacted by letting the guys in prison "have at him." If there's one thing that prisoners have no use for--even they have their limits--it's one among them who has commited a crime against a child. He could suffer as Sarah had to when his fellow prisoners get a piece of him.
To those considering life and not death, I can only say I pity you. This is NOT Justice.....to those thinking well maybe he will get killed in prison therefore satisfying your hunger for justice, I say maybe. When is this country going to stand up for what is right? It's the easy way out, a plea to life is despicable in my opinion. This man may outlive each one of us, Obtain an education, and possibly escape to freedom. As a strong believer in justice my support is fading, as is American values overall. I am deeply saddened and disappointed if this is true.
Life in prison is not LIFE, it is 20 years with parole eligibility after 12 years served. If they are going to sentence him to life let it be for life + 1 day with no possibility for parole.
I thought I wanted the death penalty for him but now, after rethinking each scenario, I say give him life +1 day and turn him loose in gen pop. Let his punk ass be raped repeatedly by all those big alpha males. Let him see what it is to live in fear of being molested. Let him live with semen in his stomach for a while. I wouldn't want to see another inmate be served up with another life term for killing him, I'd rather they just rape him daily until he kills himself. I doubt many of the CO's will have much sympathy for him.
Unfortunately we live in MD, and to sentence someone to death in MD means several automatic appeals which ends up costing more money than life in prison. If death penalty actually meant death, yes but it doesn't. It would be at least 15 years and the family would relive it every appeal. That is where MD is upside down in the death penalty. MD is very liberal, hey you voted for the people who made it this way. Don't blame the system you voted for.
Also life in prison for a child sex offender/killer is much more punishment than death. Leggs will get more suffering being sentence to life without parole.
Main point, rest in peach Sarah, and god be with the family and all the people who worked this horrible case. Something that will last in them forever.
38 years ago my sister in law whom was pregant with her first child was killed by her hubsand,of which it took months to find out how. dna testing was very slow back then,he got away with it. it took the ins company(life) to bring out details,he didnt get money but was not able to be recharged. In turn he killed someone else. MY oppinion is for him to be put to death, and so not another one can be freed. Oh by the way this happened in salisbury.
Me thinks neither death nor life in prison - open the doors and let him walk out - no guards, no protection, just let him walk out and lets see how long he then survives.
Wouldn't death be painless for him if he got the death sentence? Like going to sleep? Why choose such a "peaceful" death for that POS? He doesn't deserve it! He deserves to live out every day in a prison, living in fear of being someones shower buddy. Although death for a death seems fair, I think a sentence that allows him to suffer for a long time before going to Hell is a better fit for him.
Life in prison and placed in general population, maybe in hagerstown, or some place similar. You see, life in a penetenary (forgive the spelling) is no walk in the gardens. People who have done less have suffered great. He will wish, beg and plead to his maker that he never did what he did. He will wish and plead that he was put to death. Life in prison, "General Population" is my vote, if i did have a say.
I want the PROMISE of death that was given with bravado by our LE leaders! Now that they've been re-elected, they punk out on their promise? We should not accept this. One day after this so-called plea should result in a written letter of resignation(s) from everyone who made mistakes, false statements and broke their word.
This person, I find it hard to associate him as being human, he knew this little girl and made her suffer so before her demise, due to facts that have come out. His real judgement will come when he faces Christ. But I do believe that he fully deserves the death penalty if anyone does it would be him, he is despicable.
i say an eye for an eye... give him the exact same fate he dealt to Sarah. Lets get some huge monster with no conscience to rape, torture and beat and burn him to death and tell him you are gonna get just what you gave nothing less... and let him look at Sarah's face on a big screen the entire time he gets his punishment.
4:20 That is a mean and unjust statement. I do not know the parents but I understand they have issues. That DOESNT make them as bad as Leggs. Please get a grip. They lost their daughter.
As agreed in a previous post, DNA can not prove murder. However, he did kidnap AND rape a child! In my opinion, this in itself should deserve the death penalty. If it can't be done, I say tatoo her picture all over his body with the words, I kidnapped this child and then I raped her. Let's see how long he will last then. At least THAT much can be proven. Also, hang a huge picture of her in his cell that he has to look at every stinking day that he is still alive!
anonymous 5:50, Those two drunks for parents were never parents to little Sarah Foxwell anyway. Man, I cannot wait unti our book is published because you're going to learn more about Jennifer Foxwell, (or whatever last name she goes by now) than you'd ever believe possible. Oh yeah Folks, it's coming!
If there ever was a time to kill, this is it. Actually I like the idea of turning him loose & seeing how long he'd last. But he'd probably move far away & get away with it, maybe repeat offend, so that's out.
Public stoning @ Perdue Stadium. 5 bucks a rock. First come first serve. The other options, buried alive or dumped in the bay in a 55 gallon drum full of rats and with holes on it so as it fills with water and the rats freak out he knows what it feels like. But that's just me and the tree-hugging abortion lovin' death penalty opposing commucrats probably want to have me hunted right now...
Venting might make you feel good but be realistic folks.
This is MARYLAND. O'Malley and liberal Democrats that have an iron grip on power in this state are committed to ending the death penalty. It's only a matter of time until capital punishment in MD is repealed. When that happens, all the death row inmates will have their sentences changed to life in prison.
Not saying I agree with it, but that's the cold, hard truth.
We won't kill him, but put him in general population in prison, and someone will very very quickly. He is a waste of human breath, and is taking oxygen from someone worthwhile who needs it.
Life without the possibility of parole. Contrary to popular belief, it actually costs more to put a person to death than it does for life imprisonment. With the appeals process (and appeals are automatic in death penalty cases), he wouldn't be put to death or 10 years at a minimum, the whole time the state would be paying for his living in jail, his defense, and his prosecution. Let him rot and wallow in prison. Life is not good on the inside for child predators, and in the end he will get his just desserts on the other side.
Death. No taxpayer money should be used to keep him alive. End of story.
ReplyDeletePUT TO DEATH. There is NO PLACE in society for someone that EVIL
ReplyDeleteLet him fry!!

ReplyDeleteDrown him in the water near Sarah's grave, them hang him in the tree near by her grave, to rot. So she can "see" justice being done.

ReplyDeleteDeath by public hanging. It's time the criminal masses that roam the streets know that it's only a matter of time before their number is up.

Life without parole!!!!!
ReplyDelete12:48 there is a such thing as life w/out parole in MD.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't death be painless for him if he got the death sentence? Like going to sleep? Why choose such a "peaceful" death for that POS? He doesn't deserve it! He deserves to live out every day in a prison, living in fear of being someones shower buddy.

ReplyDeleteDeath penalty is too good for him, IMO.
ReplyDeleteBut it's the most appropriate, since there's no comparable alternative.
If there ever was a time to kill, this is it.
