SDHS ROTC

Is it true that this program is being taken away from the kids? I was told WBOC reported it but I am not sure if it is true. That saddens me, my son is going into the 9th grade and signed up for it, he wants to follow on his grandfathers
footsteps. His grandfather, Austin Cox is the last living survivor of Normady on the eastern shore. I hope this is not true

  1. Cut backs! Maybe someone should start heading up fundraisers to keep the program instead of waiting for someone else to fix the problem....

  2. obama does not want to promote any ROTC or programs that do not meet his goal. He has an agenda of his military that will be a major change in the way we protect. His muslim beliefs will give a whole new light on military. He is Commander and Chief!

  3. This is true. The Navy announced it last week. The Navy says there must be at least 100 kids in the program (for a school the size of SDHS) and there are only 94 kids in the program. However, there are expected to be 130 or so next year. It is a travesty if they go ahead with shutting this program down. All these kids have invested a lot of time and effort into a program that teaches leadership and responsibility. There was a meeting last night (wboc was there) with the parents and it seems our only hope is to get our congressional delegation to insist that the Navy keep the program.

  4. Thank you, that gives us some direction to go, with all the bad things you hear about kids, it's great to see something will lead to a career of serviing our country and valuable life lessons. I don;t think a fund raiser will help this time. I am going to the VFW to see if I can them involved and we are all going to the delegation, any phone calls or contact with your elected offical would be greatly appreciated. I beleive there was a song, you have to stand up for something or you fall for anything. These kids are standing up for our country, I choose to stand up for them.. I hope anyone reading this will join us. Thank you Joe for posting this. I hope this will help the kids
