THE CHICAGO WAY
Bread Winner...Making Babies!
I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy. She stated, "My momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family." He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family. The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.
The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois. Total yearly income:$144,000 tax-free ! not to mention free health-care (Medicaid) plus a monthly card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the "breadwinner" for the family.
THIS is how the 'RULING CLASS' spends your tax dollars. And this is what their children learn; why should they work?

Makes me sick!
ReplyDeleteHow can this happen? Working parents with the same number of children aren't making $144,000/yr, how is the welfare system allows this kind of money? There should be a cutoff of $1500/month regardless of how many children there are, that would stop the baby making.
ReplyDeleteAnybody knows how a similar program works in Maryland?
ReplyDeleteAh yes isn't that the American Dream? Pop out babies that will grow with no morals, education, or ethics and ultimately become menaces to society. Once again epic FAIL by the system. What ever happened to the new "rules" for welfare that were supposed to limit recipient time of dependency, reduce over payment (yes $1500 a child is way too much for any foster short of extreme medical needs), and prevent people from living off the system?
ReplyDeleteIf your child has ADHD, autism, or any other "condition" that requires daily medication you too can get a check every month from Social Security. I personally know of a woman that did NOTHING with her child. Did not speak to him, did not potty train him, did not make any attempts to parent the child other than whipping him with a switch from time to time who recieves benefits from every welfare program. She gets a check because her son was labeled "autistic" even though once he was school aged the teachers were able to get him talking, get him potty trained, and even disciplined and civilized. That child and many others are not suffering from a disorder or a condition they are a product of their find a way to live off the state parents.
If a person is receiving Disability checks every month they should not be capable of scrapping metal all day, mowing lawns, and detailing vehicles to make money. They surely shouldn't be capable of standing outside of the liqour store all day carrying on with their cohorts. If their mental capacity is so low that the state and federal government has to pay their way then why do they have enough sense to hide their "40"s in a paper bag inside their coats when the police drive by?
Two drunks walk the streets all day long back and forth to get another bottle yet they never worry about paying the electric, MEAP takes care of that, they have free phones and free minutes on those phones that the government pays for, they have free medical care and EBT cards with cash and food stamps on. They don't pay rent and surely have no mortgage. The only bill they were responsible for was the water but when that wasn't paid they traveled up to town to get that emergency service grant.
Yet the families that are struggling to keep a float after losing jobs cannot get any help because they made $15 too much a year! the way of America has become work under the table, do not report your wages, collect food stamps, medical assistance, WIC, energy assistance, child care assistance and let someone else bother with teaching the child so one doesnt have to bother with it.
It is an outright shame that the system is so broken. What started out as a way to give people a temporary hand up has turned into a way of life for generation upon generation.
Sorry that will be my rant for the day! It frustrates me that so many people have no character, no values and no self pride.
10:37 so true, so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteThat's how it works and nobody's doing anything about it!
ReplyDeleteCut all assistance off at levels based on your condition and number of children at the time you signed on for the assistance. If you can't afford the children you already have, the rest of us are under no obligation whatsoever to pay for you to have any more.
ReplyDelete3:29 Amen!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about this--- after your first
ReplyDeletechild if you agree to get sterilized the
goverment buys you a brand new car
for you and your child. Maybe a KIA or Toyota--say $12,000.
Now you have tranportation for
shopping, doctors visits etc.
and no more BABIES!
This scam is nothing new...why do you think so many generations of what I call "non-working poor" live under one roof? Everyones getting a check, ones a 500+ lb diabetic, ones an alcoholic and/or crackhead, and ALL the kids either have babies of their own or "learning disabilities" that keep them flush in government money.Trust me-they live way better than we working stiffs do.And don't let the caption photo mislead you either because there is plenty of white people sucking at the government teat hard too.
ReplyDeleteMaryland does much the same with its fostered children (yes, kinship care = fostering); plus check out the college benefits of these children.
