Wicomico County residents now have another print news media – the Maryland Coast Dispatch, long a source for news at the beach, has enlarged its coverage and circulation to include Wicomico, too. It is a free newspaper that is distributed at various locations. If the initial issue with the expanded coverage is a harbinger, Greg Bassett and the Gannett gurus better prepare for the worst.
In a word, the Dispatch’s news coverage is “excellent” – see the attached article about the impact fee decision made at the last meeting of the Salisbury City Council. But, I’m possibly prejudiced, being a big fan of the newspaper that was founded almost 30 years ago by the late Dick Lohmeyer.
And some of its ads for beach based businesses are more “now” than the staid stuff in the Daily Times – see the attached graphic below from an ad for an OC watering hole.
If you have to go out of your way to get this gem, try it, you’ll like it (unless you work for the Daily Times).
How will this paper be delivered? Left on front lawns, driveways, street gutters, etc?
ReplyDeleteMailed to the recipients?
Or placed in those metal newspaper vending machines, with no coins required to open it?
yes I work for the Daily Times and I am tired of finding The Dispatch in my boxes. I guess they are too cheap to buy their own !! If you find their paper littering the streets, its because I took them out of my rack and threw them in the air !!
