Why Is Everyone So Afraid Of Fire?

So a structure burns down on the river, so what. As long as everyone gets out safely, who cares! A Fire Boat isn't going to STOP fires!

When you get to be  my age, after paying for insurance over the past  30 years, why not get something out of it.

Instead, the wet pants liberals want to force a million dollar Fire Boat down our throats even though there hasn't been multiple fires on properties on the river in 20 or 30 years.

The again, are these homes and businesses not insured? If the are, let them burn and rebuild. At least it will boost the local economy. Heck, by the time the Fire Boat arrives it will be too late anyway!

All I can tell you Folks is, you better get out and vote tomorrow and you better vote for Cohen, Spies and Boda.

  1. If that tank farm ever blows that boat won't do one bit of good. It will blow everything on both sides of the river to smithereens.

  2. Bottom line this is another for the Fire Department and Bill Gordy. We don't need it and can't afford. We haven't had a reason to for the boat yet because it doesn't exist. Stop the old boy network now and start building for the future based on real needs.

  3. Why BODA? Do you want another Louise???

    BODA and SUPER DONORS as:

    1. Gabriel Investments (Martin real estate)which also supports Dryden;

    2. Hopkins from Fairfax Station VA (East Salisbury Realty LLC ?) who supports Dixon and Dryden as well;

    3. Lauren and Keith Fisher who do not live within the City limits and suport only Boda and Dryden;

    4. Susan Spengler (Chandler) and Lynne Smith from GNI (Gary Chandler rentals)- both support also Dryden,

    all gave him a total of $1600 out of his $1635 raised.
    Only 2 donation from voters ($35 combined).

    Boda's treasurer closed his financial statement 5 days earlier (Feb 18 th) than required by law (Feb 22).
    As donations within those 5 missing days will be disclosed later, why didn't he want us to see them before the primaries?

    Boda is desperate to have power and serve us well. How is he diffrent from Dixon and Dryden? HOW can he serve you and the SUPER DONORS well ? Boda thinks that the city finances are in good order. Can he read small print? !

    PLEASE DON'T VOTE FOR BODA!
    His decisions will affect your life and possibly your childrens' .
    He can be your friend or a great man of faith. No problem . But you do not owe him anything, especially your life! And that's how important this election is.

    No BDD on City Council!

    Salisbury, this is your last chance to get your life back!

  4. Just think of all the lives and property that would have been saved over the last ten years. Subtract the $million cost from that figure and the boat will only cost taxpayers (cha-ching, cha-ching on the calculator, answer is) $1 million wasted.

  5. We HAVE a fireboat, and it can be viewed at it's #1 slip at the city Marina, just inside the main gate to the parking lot.

    It is not used.

    It sits there for 20(?) years

    The only time it moved is when it sank.

    The next time it moved is when they raised it back to the surface and fixed it.

    Now, it is not used.

    So, there's your reasons to spend a million tax dollars on a new one!

  6. Most buildings have four sides I don't think one side and a fire boat is going to make much difference. Thanks to the firemen for doing what you do we know this fire boat wasn't you're idea.

  7. It does seem like a waste of our tax money.

  8. Since Salisbury already has a fireboat, I'm surprised that it hasn't been brought to OC during the annual Obesity Week for display. This is what many describe their convergence on the Beach. The most difficult task the visiting firefighters and their families face is climbing into a bus. There is no way these people will be able to climb into a boat!

    If you doubt what I say, come to OC during Firemen week and witness it yourself.

  9. Good Ole boys like their toys.
    Get a load of how Chincoteague has milked that pony herd for every imaginable item in the firemans wish book. ATVs Suvs all means of apparatus they are better equipped than a National Guard unit. Delmar has a ladder truck they have to park a mile away just to get a cat out of a tree and when ever there is a call they rush out with every piece of equipment they have. Not to mention the wildest streaks of arson we have had over the years were over zealous fire fighters.

  10. 6:05 - Firefighters do not become arsonists, arsonists become firefighters and unfortunately mar the profession.

    5:46 - There are obese people everywhere. A very high percentage of the firemen I've ever met are not obese, I could probably count on my hands the number I know that are. it would be EXTREMELY difficult to pass through training if you're obese, that's just how it is. I'm sure the general population's obesity rate is an order of magnitude higher than the firefighting profession. Just saying, stop stirring.

    This is why anonymous comments should not be allowed. There was so much less BS.

  11. this fire boat idea is the dumbest thing to ever merge on this planet and the people of Salisbury and the county better wake up and smell the roses before it is to late.

  12. What ever became of Bragg? Thought he was the El Capitan of the SS Minnow anyways...

  13. No-Go on Bo-Da.

    Any man who'd bash Debbie Campbell just for sheer number of "no" votes without checking out what idiocy those "no" votes may have stopped is a faux fiscal conservative.

    Louise preached fiscal responsibility too and look what we got!

  14. From a previous Daily Times article:

    ."Dixon said the current council approaches spending in a way they feel is in the best interest of the city. As a volunteer member of the Salisbury Fire Department, Dixon points to the purchase of a new fireboat as a smart investment.

    It's important that you vote against JOEL DIXON!!

    Watch who you vote for!

    Apparently he got forced out by the new worthless fire chief. I didn't like Bragg, but he deserved better than how new chief cheated him. There were 4 firefighters that quit in less than 2 weeks because of the new fire chief and I know for a fact 4 more paramedics are seeking employment elsewhere.

    Leadership is everything and Simpson lacks leadership skills. Simpson is now qualified to be a fire chief but they gave him the job anyway. With Fire Chief Simpson's credentials he is not qualified to be hired as a basic firefighter/EMT-B. He would not even be considered for the job. Tells you a lot about our mayor and his leadership capabilities.

  16. He resigned from the department. Some fella from Hebron is the captain of the boat now.

  17. Who is the Salisbury Fire Fighters Union Supporting for this election?? That is who I wont vote for. The union always back the bad picks. Louweasel, Ireton...

  18. The entire fire department is a sinking ship under the leadership of or lack of leadership of Jeff Simpson. He is nothing but a dictator and the butt kissers have already won him over. He is no different then Hoppes, Gordy and See. He must go.

  19. said it yesterday, say it again, it is being bought (with no concern for future cost) because the initial grant money is there, just SO,

    they can take it to OC and try to look better than the next department. it is ridiculous.

  20. I have to agree with the people that state the boat is useless. They have a boat they dont use and structural fire fighting can not be done from the boat. Granted it may get some water to a structure if it is close to the shore but it will not be able to access all areas. Salisbury, West Side and Mardela all already have boats and seem the others actually have more boat rescues than Salisbury. also need to take into account the maintenance and up keep of the boat and then the additional training and staff that would be required for no reason.
