WASHINGTON - It's the American dream to own a home, but it looks like that dream is dwindling -- especially for certain populations.
Home ownership rates are down across the board, but newly released U.S. Census data analyzed by The Greenlining Institute shows rates for Hispanics and African-Americans have dropped more severely.
Home ownership rates for whites was around 74 percent from 2002 to 2010.
But rates for African-Americans were down to 44 percent, and rates for Latinos were at 46 percent.
