ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley will testify tomorrow before the Senate Budget and Taxation and the House Ways and Means Committees in support of SB 180 and HB 173, the InvestMaryland initiative, which seeks to create a public-private partnership to invest $100 million in Maryland’s innovative start-up companies. This initiative, the centerpiece of Governor’s O’Malley’s job creation agenda this year, has the potential to support hundreds of Maryland businesses, generate thousands of new jobs, leverage billions of dollars in local economic impact, and return more than double the initial investment.
Earlier in the day tomorrow, more than 300 Maryland legislators, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and business leaders will gather for InvestMaryland Day at the Miller Senate Office Building to rally support for the initiative as it is heard before the respective committees for the first time.
