WASHINGTON - It's supposed to be a buyers' market for homes. But is there anything out there to buy?
With houses relatively inexpensive, interest rates low and the cost of renting on the rise, this looks like a good time to buy. But the pickings are slim in our area.
"In the last three months, from October to December, (local realtor) inventories dropped 25 percent," says Ron Sitrin of Long and Foster. "That's a really big drop."
He says buyers are learning to move quickly.
"They'll finally find one that they like and the one that they like will get two offers on it, three offers on it, and they can't believe this is happening," Sitrin says.
However, the pace should be picking up.
