WASHINGTON (AP) - The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal from opponents of same-sex marriage who want to overturn the District of Columbia's gay marriage law.
The court did not comment Tuesday in turning away a challenge from a Maryland pastor and others who are trying to get a measure on the ballot to allow Washingtonians to vote on a measure that defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

They don't want the people to decide because they know it's not accepted.
ReplyDeleteSo having the government dictate healthcare is bad, but having the government dictate who to marry and love is good.
ReplyDeleteOK. Got it.
The government is not dictating who you should marry, but who has the right to marry.
ReplyDeletePreview of what is to come.
ReplyDeletethis is great news!
ReplyDeleteit will be a good day when all of the ignorant people have passed onto another life and the world will be full of accepting individuals!
Would it be ok, with the Maryland pastor, if we put the church's tax exempt status to a vote?
ReplyDelete1:09 Go for it! it will be the poor and hungry that they take care of that suffer. Marriage is between a man and a women no matter what any court says. This will be the final nail in the coffin of the country.
ReplyDeleteWhat s next pedophiles marrying children?
ReplyDeleteMarriage is between two people who love each other. who are YOU to say its just between a man and a woman? and don't pull the god crap that doesn't work anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou may not believe in God but he believes in you. But I won't cross him.
ReplyDeleteHomosexuals deserve to get the help they deserve mental illness shouldn't be exploited in this way !
ReplyDeleteIt is now a race between New York and Maryland who will be the next state to legalise same sex marriage.
ReplyDeleteGood job Supreme Court - that's justice. Why shoudln't gay people suffer in marriages and go thru lengthy and expensive divorces just like heterosexual people?
ReplyDeleteMcGuire, if I've told you once I've told you a thousand times, your comments are not welcome here. It really burns you inside to know that I know every time you comment. Go away. Your scum and no one is interested in your gay bashing.
ReplyDeleteYou know none of this really matters until the federal DOMA law is removed. So gays get marriage and benefits at the state level, they're penalized so heavily for not being married at the federal level that a lot of those "benefits" they get, end up costing them more. So what's the point in getting married when it doesn't really count on every level?
ReplyDeleteIts a small breath of relief every time I see a post like this. My wife and I were married in Washington on April 9th. Its kind of sad we have to feel like our marriage could be at risk at any point, not due to marital issues but political ones. I can only pray that we continue to move forward and the simple truth of equality continues to shine through.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of disturbed person compares marrying a goat or a pedophile marrying a child to TWO ADULTS MARRYING EACH OTHER. the issue is the sex. like someone else said, why shouldnt homosexuals suffer through marriage and divorce just as heterosexuals do!
ReplyDeleteeither way, a human is a human, and we should all have the same rights.
too many cave men and women running around calling gays mentally ill. its really sad.
No it's being sold as two consenting adults what's being left out is all the legal ramifications leading to the complete break down of civilized society into anarchy much like the twin cities of sodom and gomorrah. Simply not believing in God won't protect you from the wrath.
