  1. I'm going to say 1956-1958. For the record, I was born in 1976.

  5. Sunny, no. That is the corner of Main and Division in Downtown Salisbury. You are sort of looking down into the BUSTLING plaza area.

So, Joe, you gonna give out the answer? Don't leave us hanging....

  6. There was a nice bar in the basement of that building when I was well to young but it happens. Thought it was 1975 Kim. The jail wasnt no joke across the street upstairs.

  7. One of the men looks like Roger Steffens.

  8. Looks like 1956 to me and I think I see one of the ladies from Hess Apparel walking across the street towards to court house. I see the sign Shore Bootery and Central Drugs was across the street.

  9. I am pretty sure that it was Bennent's Drugs across the street.

Bennent's had a really nice lunchonette there also. I'm guessing early 50's. The cars are pre-56, I think.

I'm not the Kim you think I am. My long-form birth certificate, driver's license, mom, dad, aunt, and (late) grandparents all say I was born in '76.

  11. must be the early 50's. Have you ever wished you could step through a Photo and live there? I would. For the record- I was born in 1977!

  12. It has to be before the J. C. Penney store was built on Main St. just east of the hotel. Notice the house sitting beside the hotel. I moved to Salisbury in 1954 when I was 11 and I don't remember that house! Noting the years of the cars, it has to be before 1955.

  13. Judging by not only the picture, but take notice to the fact that there is not a single black person in the scene, the ladies are wearing hats and gloves and NO JEANS... I would have to say.... Late 1949 to 1953??

  14. Mid 50s - the house beside the 4 story bldg was torn down to build First Shore Federal. the 4 story bldg housed Central Drugs & law offices.Yes, the plaza DID bustle!!

  15. That is not the hotel that is the drug store. The house is sitting on Camden Street about where First Shore Federal is now. The car parked on Main St. is a 1954 Mercury.

  16. Women's fashion was so much better then.

  17. The Mercury is a 1953 or 1954. The Buick is slightly older 1951 or 1952. Picture is probably 1954.

  18. Early 50's is my best guess via cars and women's apparel, and no, I'm not that old either...LOL

  19. All I can say is that the City appears alot more prosperous than it does today.

Look at the scores of people - hustle & bustle. Whatever happened to Salisbury.

  20. White Noise used to jam in that bar, my sister back then was Terrys girl(one of them) so we could sneek in as part of the band carrying gear. When they built the parking garage we could skate to. Speed runs drunk.

  23. I am REALLY CURIOUS but I am guessing 1954. Crazy to think downtown used to be like this.
