First of all, I would like to thank the outpour of support given to 2 yr old Saylor Hayes who is recovering from cancer. Last night there was a well planned benefit to help her family with medical expenses held at the Laurel Fire Dept. As a resident of Laurel for the past 30 years I am very embarrassed by the actions of a few females who immaturely decided this was a time and place to put their hands on eachother and fight. We were there for Saylor and for these people to do this was uncalled for. As for everyone else who attended and knew how to act, on behalf of the family and the residents here, we thank you
Sincerely,
Laurel Resident
One of them was a teacher!
ReplyDeleteWhats immature is you posting this story on the news blog!! If you have lived in Laurel for 30 years then you should know that things like this happen. NO fingers can be pointed, if you were not one of the people involved you dont know what happened! There is a boiling point for everyone!! GREAT JOB POSTING THIS!!! Like Laurel needs more drama in the news.
ReplyDeleteIs it necessary to continue to focus on the negativity of a few ppl. Out of over 500? I think not. The benefit was a complete success, for an amazing cause, that raised a ton of money, for an amazing sweet little girl. Let the altercation die, and focus on the good that was done.
ReplyDeleteNot hiding my opinion
Josh Wharton
Josh, I agree we need to focus on the positive of the situation. Yes there was a problem that ended the evening short, but our goal was accomplished in the fact that we helped Saylor and the Hayes family!!! The Laurel community and other communities that helped out with this benefit are awesome!! To focus only on the negative is not moving forward!!
ReplyDeleteHalf of the problem that ended the positive night is the same person "teaching" our children. Don't u people see a problem with that? Does she say ok class, if someone hits you THROW PUNCHES and get them back, it's all about defending yourself kids! And the other half of the problem has children in the district as well. Great role modeling ladies! Mrs Noll better re-evaluate her staff. Sickening situation--all should be embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteWow Dawn, way to try to make everything about you huh? Quit ur whining and mind ur business before someone writes a new post about why your husband was fired hmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteOn another note, got to love our Laurel teachers and role models! HOMESCHOOL YOUR KIDS FOLKS!!
Word has it, Andi was a no-show at school today claiming kids were sick, likely story. Embarrassed is more like it
ReplyDeleteHow do you know if her kids were sick or not? I wasn't there friday night so i don't know what happen but why don't you mind your business and let it go. And by the way, I like Laurel teachers.
ReplyDelete@ Courtney- Get a job & mind your business being you weren't even there and prob have no clue whatsoever. Not all Laurel teachers were involved, so no one was speaking of ALL of them
ReplyDeleteit is really sick how some people are trying to defend the 2 in the wrong and bash the one who was attacked. is it because the two drunk, beligerant women are part of the laurel "good ole boy" club families, or is it because the 1 is our State Rep of DE's daughter in law?? Why hasnt anyone thrown that out there?? How is it just because the one who was attacked is a teacher, oh hell~ lets burn her at the stake! I WAS there Friday night, and I witnessed the ongoing harrassment that those 2 bestowed upon her all night. I WAS there and witnessed her walking away, shaking her head, and avoiding the drama as much as she could. But when two people try to attack you from behind, how is one to react?? It doesnt matter if you are a teacher, a store clerk, a judge, or bum off the street, you have a right to defend yourself~ period. She wasnt at school, she wasnt in the prescense of her students, or her own children. How dare you comment on her childen and their health~ you are sick sick people. and that right there speaks in volumes of what lengths people will go to to protect those who are in the wrong. Bite your tongue people~ very very sad~
ReplyDeleteIn response to the previous posts these girls should all be frowned upon. Each girl, whether a teacher, daughter-in-law of a state rep. or a sister-in-law to a Laurel School board canidate all come from respected families! The altercation was ridiculous and uncalled for. In addition, there were children there! Children that know one girl as a teacher and the other as a mother, regardless of who was there the actions are repulsive and all involved should be repremanded!
ReplyDeletehere is a final thought. how about we concentrate on the real problems in the Laurel School district,,,,like,,,, the high school teacher that was just arrested for supplying his students drugs and alcohol,,,,or the fact that a person running for school board elect is related to a harrasser that feels it is okay to attack people for no reason! How about those plagueing issues that actually are huge deals inside the school district!! Not a teacher who was trying to defend herself from a drunk attacker! would you people be downing her if she was walking down the street and got attacked and defended herself? Oh- but wait- shes a teacher, she cant defend herself,,,,,,?? sounds crazy huh?? people, please get your selfish minds out of gossip and defense mode of the good ole boys club relatives and leave innocent people alone. ps- schools can not repremand teachers who were attacked on her own time, she was not arrested, as a matter of fact she has to have a restraining order against those who have attacked her! repremand?? for what?? because someone chose to attack her?? not her choice........brush up on your rights people.....
ReplyDeleteDisgusted, I agree with you. I got news if people are going to attack me i going to defend myself. We need to worry about other stuff that goes on in the laurel school district not stupid petty stuff that happen at a benefit.
ReplyDeleteAnd to Just sayin, don't tell me what to do, i do have a job its called taking care of my kids which is a 24 hour job.
And to whoever posted this should be ashamed, you shouldn't have went and told all of delmarva what happen, you should have told them about what a great success the benefit was for the little girl not what happen between a nice person and two drunk idiots.
To Whom It May Concern:
ReplyDeleteMay I first start off by saying that I would like to shake your hand ("disgusted"), because it seems that based on the way you are talking you are a perfect person and have never made a mistake. Let me say that is pretty amazing considering it hasn't been done in over 2000 years. Quite a feat indeed, bravo.
Although, I find it shocking that your grammar and spelling errors would really come from such a perfect person.
The two "drunken idiots" (because drunken is the correct tense not drunk) that you are referring to are amazing women who made a mistake, have since apologized and made amends for their mistake for those whom they should have. In all honesty that says more about who they are then one mistake that they made. They actually took responsibility for their actions rather than pointing the finger. Which it seems the “nice person” was unable to do, which may I also point out that if she was aware that the two ladies were drunk, shouldn’t she have stayed away rather than going near them in the first place? Would that not have avoided this entire situation? That would have been the better decision, however as stated mistakes were made.
Regardless of profession or who they are close to should make no difference. They ALL made a mistake, they are aware. We are all human and every now and then it happens, because I am sure every one of you has regretted a decision you have made at one time or another, (except of course for you "disgusted" as well we have noted you are perfect.)
Nothing of what you all are saying will change what happened it simply is in the past. Move on.
Just more food for thought, Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.”
Consider which you are.
As for what this event was really about, I am glad for the amazing turnout that was for a wonderful cause.
Saylor is truly blessed to have so many people that care about her and are willing to show up and support her and her family in this trying time. She is such a beautiful child, and this truly was a great idea. I am sure that her family and friends are very thankful for all of the support.
awful lot of things being said, lots of fingers being pointed, which is fine....there is always two sides to every story..!!.....real quickly i want to say, "courtney"...having to raise your kids is not a "job"..its the love of life.!!......"Disgusted"...its obvious you are the quote unquote the "victim", friend, or relative..??....alot to say... but you forgot to say your name....kinda speaks of your character..??...you would be a good defense attorney..??...but please tell the story from the beginning...which stems from a couple years back to the night of the benefit...and we dont have to be a genius to figure out what the beef was really over....this was definately the wrong place, and wrong time for this to happen...it was a shame.....i totally agree.....as for what happened in the last fifteen minutes of a very successful night...I saw a the club scene show up at a benefit...as a certain group dance song came on there was a few bumps back and forth from both parties which at this time words were exchanged with a couple more bumps my sister-in-law had two girls standing over her... when my wife instead of breaking up the scuffle... decides to help defend her friend/sister-in-law...all was broken up and done which in minutes...there are no pfa's here.......i am very disappointed this happened,...and my wife is embarrassed.....but she is a real women and taking it all like one... beings we want to bring up the bad she did...i figured i would bring up the good she did for the benefit...she personally...with partner...printed, sold, and donated about $1,000.00 in saylor tee shirts...got together $1,000.00 + in silent auction items, sold 40 tickets, we won the cape hateras trip with a bid of $1,500.00...but besides all of that she is mostly saddened that her and nicole..(saylor's mom)..have been good friends for 15 years...as she was just in our wedding a few months ago...so we are not at all proud nor happy that this happened........i do finally get to thank everybody for all they did for the benefit, a huge success...and i hope...josh...you read this...they couldnt have picked a better man for the mic...you did a brilliant job for the benefit...cant say enough...!!!...."disgusted".....as far as bringing in who knows who, or who's related to who, or who slept with who.....just realize that what happened at the end of the benefit was wrong...and not called for...!!!......as far as "the good ole boys club"...you know we run hazzard county..!!!..quit acting like rosco p. coltrane...and put your name out there...!!......keep it real..!!... BRENT T. LEE
ReplyDeleteclassy~ typical response when embarrassed. its all good~ you are right about one thing,,,,its time to move on. now, as far as who is who,,,,,no, I am not related to anyone,,,as a matter of fact, i am a parent of a past student of the person you are running down. And i am what i say i am "disgusted" and you dont need to know my name because we all know how your family apparently handles controversy~ and I am above that. now with that being said,,,that is "enough said". might I add, that no one is perfect, and never claimed to be. if you people will read back into the previous posts, my "disgusts" lie within the put downs of this person as a teacher and professionally. and the remarks of her children made by people. so, before you go and start gettin all "gansta" in "hazzard county" maybe you need to look in the mirror and realize that you are in sussex county, and you and your affiliates need to step back and think before you act, speak, and put your hands on people. ?? move on, we are all adults. you have your side, and the other side has theirs, and in most cases~ it is never agreed upon. but one thing is mutual~ bet they wont put their hands on her again.... never judge a book by the cover~ you just might get suprised........
ReplyDeleteDisgusted... are you jealous of the good ol boy club family?? The way i see it you are!! Does it make you feel better that you talk about someone elses family? The families that you feel you need to mention in your past post are some of the most respected families around. Sorry you cant say the same for yours! You agree that it is time to move on but you still talk trash. And as for her getting attacked from behind, that is nothing but a sob story! Why are you bringing up who is running for school board or who of state rep is? They have NOTHING to do with this!! What are you trying to do here??? Are you trying to clear her name or something? Get over it. Whats done is done now. Move on and start posting the positive things from the benefit!! ENOUGH AND WHO'S WHO I COULDNT AGREE MORE WITH YOUR POSTS!! THANK YOU FOR HAVING SOME COMMON SENSE
