Event Raises Over $100 For Toys for Tots
Salisbury, Md. – The Delmarva Shorebirds are pleased to announce that “Cookies with Claus” was a great success at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium this past Saturday (Dec. 11). The generosity of the Eastern Shore proved tremendous once again. The Shorebirds received 195 new and unwrapped toys on Saturday, which will be donated to the Toys for Tots campaign.
More than 100 families showed up for the event in the Executive Club at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Santa Claus took pictures with all the families while Sherman Claus roamed the club entertaining the masses. Coloring stations were set up and the Shorebirds provided cookies, hot chocolate and other holiday themed fare.
“We are extremely pleased with the outpouring of support that we received from our great fans and the Eastern Shore community,” said general manager Chris Bitters. “I can’t thank the Shorebirds Fan Club, our avid fans and the local community enough for their generosity.”
The Delmarva Shorebirds Fan Club, the organization that provides support for the players during the season, made a sizable toy donation on Saturday.
In addition to the toy donations, the Shorebirds raised over $100 dollars. The funds will also be donated to the Toys for Tots campaign.
The Shorebirds would also like to thank our media partners for spreading the word about the event. In particular, Clear Channel partnered with the Shorebirds to help create the best event possible.
Toys for Tots has been ongoing in Wicomico County for 27 years. In 2009, over 14,000 toys were given out to over 7,000 children. For more information about the Toys for Tots program, click here.
