Investors worried subscribers would abandon service if shock jock moved on
NEW YORK — Howard Stern is returning to Sirius XM Radio Inc, the shock jock reported on his website on Thursday, sending shares of the satellite radio company up 8 percent.
HowardStern.com posted a message saying "Howard announced this morning that he has signed a new 5 year deal with SiriusXM Radio," and that more details were to follow.
Stern's previous five-year, $500 million contract with Sirius XM Radio expires in December and investors have expressed concern that subscribers would abandon the service if Stern were to move on.
One estimate says Stern brought 1.2 million subscribers aboard when he joined the service.

ReplyDeleteHoward is genious. He will now be all mobile devices as well. Wooohoo! I love Howard!
Bababooey to everyone.
So when Sirius/XM goes broke, we'll all know why. Pathetic! If I remember correctly, they were in trouble last year...
ReplyDeletejoe, I am sure coming from NY you have extensive knowledge of just how big a jerk this guy really is!
ReplyDelete100 million a year?! Are you kidding me? That's just crazy. Even brain surgeons and heart surgeons don't earn that much.
ReplyDeleteNo one deserves that much money. No, I'm not jealous. I would think it would be a bigger headache to have that much than not.
I hope he does good with it and not just partying and self indulgence.
