The Fire Department in New York City thinks the taxpayers should no longer be the only ones paying when firefighters are called to the scene of a car crash. Starting next summer, the FDNY will begin billing their time to the motorists involved in the incidents.

Democrats will never stop coming for your pay check.
ReplyDeleteInitially, everyone will think that those evil insurance companies can pay for these costs, but in the long run, that will only make the insurance premiums go up.
ReplyDeleteMostly for folks who live in that area, and by extension, everyone else, since that will be a remote possibility for us all.
If the citizens are TAXED for the services of the Fire Department, then perhaps the Fire Dept should no longer receive tax funds. I don't see how they can ask the citizens to help pay for their services by taxing them and then forcing them to pay when their services are needed. Especially since reports indicated that even those who are NOT at fault in the accidents will also be billed. I wonder --- how does THAT go over with "if you don't like it, then don't drive" folks?? Just mindin' my own business, obeying all traffic laws, when WHAM!! Jose runs a stop sign, totals my car and the fire dept shows up to present me with a bill for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Once THIS is established, will the police start charging your family if YOU get murdered in a burglary??? Not that much of a reach....
ReplyDelete"If the police show up at your house for a domestic violence dispute or a break-in, are they going to send you a bill? Those are services that are typically covered when you pay your taxes."
ReplyDeleteNo, but if some jerk driver from New York crashes on Route 13, why should my tax dollars pay for the fire truck coming? Expecially if that driver is running drugs up from Florida.
Insurance rates will go up because insurance companies want any excuse to raise them. Kind of like those Salisbury landlords who blame fees for increasing rates. Gee, boys, what was your excuse for hiking my duaghter's rent before the fees and the tax increases?
This is becoming a big thing now. The local fire dept is talking about doing this here. It makes sense. In the summer time most of the MVC's on 50 are not local tax payers.
