Don't Miss Tonight's 47 News Broadcast At 6 PM

47 News will be covering the two biker clubs hosting a beer fest in Sarah Foxwell's name. Today I got to view the flier for the event. It stated ALL proceeds will be donated. There were NO contact names, no telephone numbers and no 501 C3 non profit information.

Now, if the event was being produced by an organization like HOPE, that would be a different story. First of all, they'd have enough class to NOT hold the event from 8 PM to 12 AM. Secondly, they'd have ALL of their contact information as well as tax exempt information. More importantly, HOPE would never make the statement that ALL proceeds are going here or there. That statement may have these two groups in a bit of trouble.

Anyhow, watch 47 News tonight at 6 & 11 PM and you'll see what I'm talking about. The rest is their story.

  1. Joe you act like these people are having a big party and keeping the proceeds. This is so far from the truth. Does anyone realize the amount of time and energy spent on organizing such a big event? And they don't HAVE to do this, they WANT to. It's not about partying, its about awareness. So what if ADULTS drink? Last I heard, that's a personal choice. So I am anxiously awaiting the 6pm news so "their story" does air and you and others like you that have no faith in honest people will see that there is NOTHING wrong with what they are doing.

  2. so called "bikers" nowadays, are just a bunch of wannabe baby boomers, who grew up watching the old "B" biker movies, wishing that was themselves. the one thing most of them never got, was the second you call yourself a "BIKER", you're anot a biker...

  4. anonymous 2:28, Honest people would in the very least have a name and contact number on each and every flier, wouldn't you agree?

I'm not at all stating anyone is doing anything wrong here. I'm simply stating IF the people who were involved knew what they were doing they would have done so.

Slso, I have spoken with WBOC & WMDT and NO ONE heard about this event until it was posted on SBYNews. There's been NOTHING advertised in the Daily Times and NONE of the Blogs even covered it.

With all due respect, IF this thing was going to raise THOUSANDS of dollars, (as some of you have stated) then you'd think every ounce of promotion to make it a success would have been done. None of that happened.

THAT is why I called it a beer bash. I call it as I see it.

  5. The same GROUP DID NOT HAVE A RIDE MEMORIAL DAY FOR THIS EVENT! The ride was 4/17/2010. 552 bikes did the Mmeorial Ride...Contact SU and The Child Advacacy Center to find out where the proceeds went. I also know the event was not cheap to do...So called COMMUNITY BUSINESS/ FAMILY BUSINESS CHARGED for things to be used at the event. The pins cost money, and those SO CALLED BIKERS paid to do the event and get their pins and bought t-shirts and not once complained..When FAMILIES came out they did not want to pay the donation to get in. They had family things there. The FAMILIES that came COMPLAINED because they wanted a good time FOR FREE....I am sick of hearing the negative stuff about bikers. Complain to the retired police MC...Blue Knights or complain to a Fireman...RED KNIGHT.....GIVE BIKER A BREAK....Maybe the ones complaining are the same ones afraid they will miss out on buying an extra drink for themselves instead of the $5.00 that will go towards the future of a student. GET A LIFE PEOPLE.....

either you are one of them or you dont know them, I havent heard any
thing else about this and advertising is needed to make it work. all proceeds should go to the charity not what is left over after we take out for us to do it

I dont drink and ride maybe you do
thats why they should go out and get donations instead of buying everything and then want someone else to pay for it

  8. There should be huge question mark on this event.

  9. Not all "bikers" are honest, good people. This aura around the biker community is a little over the top.

An event that is legit has contact info and thought behind it. Were the Foxwells asked if it was okay to use Sarah's name? Some people - not just bikers - get carried away with themselves.

Not making the bikers the bad guys here, but they don't walk on water either.

  10. I missed the biker story. However, I was quite taken that a county that took $1 million away from the Sheriff's department. Yet they have enough money to create a new position for Linda Lugo?

Some of the people that were elected to office only because they didn't have a worthy candidate running against them.

Then again, the way this country, county and city are going further in the hole who in their right mind would like to have all the problems dumped in their laps.

    Good stratagy incumbents.

  11. Correct on many points folks. Too many self-proclaimed bikers around here. Real bikers wouldn't want to be associated with such a dubious scheme. A lot of the people connected with this circus are trailer queens, little posers, shiny bike wanna- bes. The public needs to know that there are very sketchy individuals behind this event - especially the notorious attention-hungry, back-stabbing Ms. Darby. The previous event in the young victim's name was fraught with controversy, infighting & mudslinging. Hardly a worthy tribute, in fact, quite a dishonor. Go to the website "Biker or Not.com" and read how she exploits what happened to the victim in order to draw attention to her so-called cause. One would find it hard to believe that the Foxwell family endorses sensationalistic garbage like that.
