The Delaware State Police are pleased to announce that they have met the requirements of a highly regarded and broadly recognized body of law enforcement standards, and were accredited for the seventh time by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) on November 20, 2010.
In May 2010 a team of CALEA assessors examined all aspects of the Delaware State Police Department’s policies, procedures, management, operations and support services for years 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. The assessors reviewed written materials and conducted interviews with troopers and members of the community to verify the department’s continued compliance. The Delaware State Police takes great pride in saying they are in compliance with all of the 464 standards. In the report, the lead CALEA assessor stated “The Delaware State Police is a full service, community oriented law enforcement agency which is very professional.”
The Delaware State Police’s continued status as an accredited agency will assist the Division in meeting the needs of the citizens and visitors of the State of Delaware.
