The 2010 campaign will be remembered as a landmark in the history of black conservatism: We are witnessing a sea change, a surge of interest in a fresh approach for the black community. The black conservative movement is now stronger than it has been in decades. Ironically, the election of America’s first black liberal president, Barack Obama, has sparked its antithesis: black conservative candidates across the nation insisting that blacks thrive best according to free market principles and traditional morality.
Welcome to a brave new world.
For decades, liberals have maintained that only big-government policies—that is, dependence on the welfare state—and permissive morals would truly set blacks free. In addition, liberals insist that blacks need affirmative action—that is, quotas to ensure they are employed in adequate numbers in a predominantly, in their view, racist and oppressive America. And, liberals have argued blacks ought to embrace a multicultural view of their nation—that is, celebrate a so-called “organic” and “authentic” black culture that is distinct from the universal doctrine of individual rights and freedoms that defines most patriotic, Constitution-loving Americans. The result has been to propagate segregation: the black community has segregated itself into the Democratic Party, remaining trapped and stifled by its failed policies.
Blacks in America vote in overwhelming numbers—consistently above 88 percent—for the Democratic Party. This means that Democratic leaders by and large take their vote for granted and Republicans by and large do not think there is much point in attempting to court a constituency that will not vote for them regardless of how hard they try to win them over. In a nutshell, black Americans have failed to dangle their vote strategically amongst the two parties, offering the price of their allegiance to those representatives who will do most for them. Instead, they have given themselves whole hog to one party, like a love-stricken, hopeless wife who cannot leave the man who constantly betrays her.
For their allegiance to this philosophy, blacks can boast a disproportionately high unemployment rate of 16 percent; a staggering abortion rate wherein 50 percent of black pregnancies are aborted; and a shocking rate of broken families—70 percent of black children do not have a father in the home. This means that in 2010, after almost five decades of liberalism, the black community is underemployed, being systematically exterminated and their families are being decimated. Any one of these statistics should convince a self-loving black American that it is time to dramatically change course. This kind of physical and social destruction is more reminiscent of colonial America when blacks were still in chains than it is of the contemporary, free, prosperous and sophisticated nation we have created since then.Keep reading >>
I like poltical diversity as long as black folks remember that a large segment of the conservative right believes that most of them are moochers looking to sit on their butts and live a life a gov. dependency.
ReplyDeleteIs it racist to point out the facts that are presented in the article? Is is racist to point out that in many many US cities there are huge swaths of the cities that are almost entirely dependent on food stamps, housing, energy assistance, etc? Discussion of the state of the African-American culture in the US is almost impossible because when the FACTS are discussed (as in the aforementioned article)-- and it didn't even talk about the droput rate or the incarceration rate or the illiteracy rate--- one is immediately labled as racist AND/OR the discussion is directed to what the "white man" has done to CAUSE these things. If your child drops out of school at 14 because she can't read and is pregnant, its NOT "someone elses fault". If you let your son sell drugs on the corner at 1AM because he gives you a cut, but goes to prison at 17 yrs old, its HIS fault (and yours). NOT "someone elses fault". And if 96% of white people voted for a candidate because he was white, there would be a deafening outcry. But if 96% of black people vote for a black candidate, there is not a word uttered about that...Racism DOES exist. But its not just on one side of the spectrum and the truth is NOT racist. Its just the truth.
ReplyDeleteImclain, you illustrate my point flawlessly. I doubt you've taken the time to look at these issues with any sort of depth. Especially if you believe that 100% of that 96% black vote for Obama was souly (couldn't help it) based on race. I guess you forget about the 80%+ black voter support of Dems. (black or white), a highly unpopular Rep. administration prior to 2008, and a huge wave of overall support for Dems nationwide during that cycle. Just another example of the right creating convenient truths by cobbling together half the story and making up the rest. The fact that there are so many of you out there in both parties is reason enough not to show blind allegiance to either side of the aisle.
ReplyDeleteRacism is becoming colorism in America. There are fewer and fewer true AfricanAmericans left. Young white girls want to be with young black boys. It is a trend and is growing.
ReplyDeleteThe number of children born into mixed race families is growing at an incredible rate. We now discriminate against color, not race.
Only the Jews find it important to keep their bloodline pure. They do not mix their race with goyim. They are truly racist people. To immigrate to Israel one MUST BE Jewish (by mother's descendency). That is a fact.
9:29, you're an idiot just trying to stir up some stuff.
ReplyDelete12:49, you, too.
The article was written by a black woman doctor, with no agenda other than to state the truth-- that the lack of personal responsibility that has come from generations of 'victimhood' brainwashing by so-called leaders of the black community is DESTROYING the black community. The are slaves to their 'victimhood'.
Their only hope is to break the cycle, something that the left is loathe to help them do, because the left is empowered by their utter dependency on the government, and they intend to keep them that way.
12:49...Statistics can prove anything...but the fact --- fact -- is that (more than) 96% of African-Americans voted for Obama. In light of the article (apparently written by an African-American female) outlining the culture of dependence (promoted and largely enacted by Democrats) and its (without question) hugely negative impact on black families and culture, it can be argued that blacks voted based on skin color. If not, then they voted for a party that has essentially enslaved them and contributed to their cultural destruction. Which calls into question their ability to reason and think independently --- and I know you're not doing THAT, are you? I'm not making up anything. For someone to argue that black people DID NOT vote for the FIRST African-American presidential candidate in HISTORY because of his skin color is an assertation that just doesn't stand up to common sense or scrutiny. You think that Catholics didn't vote for John Kennedy in huge droves?? Come on, who's making stuff up now?
ReplyDelete3:27, I see you completly avoided the hard facts I presented and instead doubled down on your empty rhetoric. So let me simplify. If 80%+ of black voters were already square into the Dem party that leaves less than 16% who could possibly be swayed by race alone. Throw on top of that nationwide discontent with Rep.; we'll say that is worth atleast another 10%. That only leaves 6% who could have voted solely on race. Probably around the same amount of whites who voted against him because of race alone. I guess it is easy to develop theories based on only part of the facts.
ReplyDelete5:35...You are definitely in a dream world...only 6% of black people voted for the only black man to have a serious shot at becoming President? LOL! You GREATLY underestimate (did you watch any TV coverage of the jubilant black crowds??) The pride that African-Americans had in such a charismatic black candidate! Again --- who's making stuff up??? I don't mind arguing statistics, but please don't present and interpret the numbers in such an unbelievably boneheaded manner. Your analysis loses all credibility. Its NOT empty rhetoric, my erudite friend. Its a better grasp of reality.
