Fruitland now has three new members on its City Council to replace incumbents who decided not to seek another term. Those new kids on the block should expect Gary Comegys to appear at the door (probably, he’ll call them) to promote the effort to lobby the General Assembly to allow Maryland’s towns and cities impose a whole bunch of new taxes on their residents and property owners. We recently discussed this scheme in detail in a post reporting that the Salisbury City Council recently got on board the Comegys express –

Comegys and the Maryland Municipal League want every town and hamlet in Maryland to drink their kool-aid. Our advice to all: "just say NO". Tax & spend must end!
Neither of Fruitland's soon-to-be sworn in Council members are as stupid as Comegys. Thank God.
ReplyDeleteI think a new day is about to dawn on Fruitland. The taxpayers are fed up with the increases, and the excuses being given for them.
ReplyDeleteThe new council members are, too.
I believe they have a mindset for change. There will probably be some heartburn in some quarters, but that often comes with a course correction.
The people have spoken clearly.
Lee Outen, with 68% of the voters behind him (a landslide by any measure) , Dodie Kerr with 60% and Ed Cowell at 40% represent the new Fruitland government, and they should be given the helm.
Considering what has happened over the past few years while they were on the council, the two remaining members of the current council should graciously allow the newly-elected members to guide the city back to prosperity.
12:56 Amen!
ReplyDeleteI really believe in the three elected, although I know there is no way for it to turn around overnight. I do think in a year or two, things will begin to be on track.
ReplyDelete280 people voted how do they represent Fruitland? New Dawn what a joke 12% of voters
