WBOC Taking Notes From Taylor

Not sure if you saw this, Joe, but I'm watching WBOC's 10 pm news. They showed footage of some home that burned down in Tennessee, but Alice Bavis was reporting as if it were WBOC there. Now I know for sure that the local tv station isn't going to Tennessee! This is extremely deceptive. They should just say it was some other tv station's footage instead of pretending it was "us" who investigated and "our reporters" who were shooshed away by police at the scene!

All too often we're seeing this sort of thing from the local MSM. They read something on Salisbury News, then they see the major comments on that Post and they must report on it. Come on Folks, how often do you go to your local news any more and NOT see what Salisbury News already published hours earlier.

I will say however, that's getting pretty low when you make it look like you're on location at a scene and your not. It kind of reminds me of how Jonathan Taylor can report on certain meetings that weren't live productions and report on it immediately following. Even though the article has his name on it, even though he claims he's the ONLY one working for that Site, he mysteriously delivers his one sided report as if he were there. Sorry Folks but it's pretty difficult to move a 500 lb gorilla who claims to be handicapped. Who's Delmarva's News Leader???????

  2. I rarely even turn on either of the local news stations. Joe has been really caught up in the elections lately, but once that has passed I would imagine it will go back to reporting local happenings just as before.

  4. JT's handicap is FAT. If you notice most people you see in motorized chairs in stores etc are in them cause they are too fat and lazy to walk. Lose weight and you can walk. I understand back injuries and heart patients using them but usually they are thin.

  6. Looks like people just latched onto your last paragraph instead of evaluating your actual article...

The reason our local reporters use "our" and report as if they were there is simple - most "local" stations are simply offshoots of a major/national company. So technically, they are reporting what "their" (as in, employees of their parent company) reporters have seen and/or done.

Is it somewhat misleading? Yes. Is it technically incorrect? Unfortunately, no.

HAHAHA - my word verification is "ulikboot"
