Pelosi's Family, Staffers Fly The Friendly Skies

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and members of her family and staff took 85 tax-paid trips on military aircraft between March 2, 2009, and June 7, 2010, according to new documents uncovered by Judicial Watch.

Pelosi's daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons were on the June 20, 2009, flight from Andrews AFB to San Francisco where Pelosi resides, according to the documents. On July 2, 2010, Pelosi took a grandson on a flight from Andrews to Travis AFB, north of San Francisco.

Judicial Watch obtained the documents as a result of a January 25, 2009, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Previous documents received by the non-profit watchdog group revealed that Pelosi's travel "cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol," according to Judicial Watch.

  2. Why is she not required to reimburse the Tax Payer? This is gross neglegent and ethics violation. The Tax Payer is only liable for her expenses for travel and meal, not including alcohol and extras while she is Speaker. Family members are not included. They have to pay their own way. So much for cleaning up the corruption / draining the swamp. Where is this ethics investigation?

  3. That equals about 25,000 per flight. First class would be much cheaper.

  7. As Speaker of the House she is third in line to the President in the event the President and Vice Presedent are incapable of performing their functions. As a result, whenever the Speaker of the House travels he/she is assigned a USAF C-32 (Boeing 757)with an issued an entourage of government and militaryn officials who accompany her. In the event all hell breaks loose, she has immediate access to the codes that can launch all our ICBMs.

  9. Our government officials are special people. They are smarter than average Americans, usually bred of better families than average Americans and are blessed with wisdom to make tough decisions for the rest of us.

Many of them have given up lives of luxury to take care of us.

We should all feel thankful for their service. They don't have to do this for us.

So don't expect them to live, fly, or drive like a regular American. they are special and should be treated as such.

  10. Hail! Ceasear!! The sacrifices these rich and priviledged people make --- its unbelievable, really ---just make sure we, the peasants, I mean people, are "looked after" properly. I'm glad someone is willing to give up their comfortable lives to help me and the enormous legions of barely intelligent citizens grasp the mind numbing details of our boring lives. what would we EVER do without them??? I have a feeling we will be finding out soon.....

  11. For starters, she does NOT represent the US public, only her constituents from the "land of fruits and nuts". In that vein, they should be the people footing the bill for "her highness" to travel.

Hate to disillusion you, but the speaker of the house is SECOND in line to the presidency. (not third) IMO 50th is too close for comfort...
